Overview

Fine food, good wine and a balmy climate – is it any wonder that the Rias Baixas is such a sought-after spot in Northern Spain?

For decades, travellers have been making the sojourn to the sweep of beaches and towns that make up this region. We are always glad to find comfortable properties nestled here; homes that boast all the right ingredients for making the most of the region.

Sanxenxo sits at the heart of the Rias Baixas and can often be found bustling with summer tourists. While the beaches and town can buzz with life – another world is waiting only five minutes away.

Sitting in a tranquil haven just off the beaten track, you will find a small neighbourhood where the locals still toil the land to produce one of the finest wines in the region – Albarino.

We believe this family friendly villa captures the essence of what Rustical Travel is all about – particularly when it comes to seeking inspired locations a stone’s throw away from the sandy beaches and the action. We think adults will adore the locale of being placed amidst the local wining and dining scene.

Younger couples will be charmed to be only a few minutes’ drive from the vibrant town, and children will find themselves running across the sand only ten minutes stroll from your own front door.

The beach feels virginal and despite a restaurant close by, the setting is certainly rural – with a small river trickling down from the mountains to meet the sea.

Offering 300 sq m of elegant space, this villa is a far cry from a cookie-cutter Ikea design and instead breathes a colourful and artistic flair.

While the house may not be as rustic in style as some of the other properties on our books, we were excited to find a villa in this beautiful region that is so much more than a soulless beach apartment.

Happy and bright, the house also boasts some of those mod cons and comforts that the more rustic houses miss.

The kitchen is modern and clean and with shopping facilities close by, its easy to whip up wonderful locally inspired meals.

There is also a garage, and a gas barbeque and pool outside.

Even though you can spy another house from the pool area you don’t feel as overlooked thanks to having cultivated to the other side of the house with the feel of being in the countryside.

During our stay we found the position of the house wonderfully quiet – and adored the comfortable beds and wandering down to the sea after dinner.

Days out are plentiful with the beaches of Cies Island close by and the wild shores of Portugal only an hour away.

The pilgrim town of Santiago is only an hour away with its medieval walls and celebratory feel for those who have finished walking the Camino.

In small village / traditional Galician neighborhood next to the town of Sanxenxo and at the back of Areas beach. This house is the last one of the street with countryside and vineyards beyond the property.
