Overview

Just outside Ronda, here is a villa with snazzy and luxurious touches. Decidedly electronically fashionable, it's a place where the security gate opens by remote control, lawns are automatically watered at midnight (so don’t leave your best dress out), the WiFi is tip-top, mobile cover is good, TV is by satellite and bathrooms have hydromassage.

Even the light fittings are smart. A neatly trimmed, high fir hedge completely encloses the property, which is located on a quiet lane with a leafy, suburban feel just minutes from Ronda. You feel very intimately private whether on the well-kept lawn, in the pool, making a barbecue, or sitting out on cushioned seating on the shaded terrace.

An antique front door is a nod to Ronda history, but once you’re inside, the rustic element is limited to traditional tiling giving way to a wood floor (very nice), and a cane-ceilinged dining area.

The interior impresses by the wealth and consistency of its natural lighting, quality furnishing and equipment. Soft furnishings create a living space by a working fireplace (there’s also central heating in winter) and the dining area is bathed in light from large windows out to the garden.

The kitchen has all mod cons, and there’s not just a good barbecue outside in the garden by the pool, but also a domed wood oven for delicious roasts. The barbecue cook has welcome shade here to make their leisurely labour that much more agreeable.

Two bright bedrooms have their bathrooms to the rear of the bed in a modish open-plan arrangement.

A relaxingly darker bedroom has a separate bathroom, mosaic-tiled in adobe colours that complement the oranges and tans throughout the property.

Internal steps (this semi-protected staircase isn't safe for very young children) go up to a TV & DVD room, which is windowed round and sports unusual art deco-style seating. This is the one place in the house that needs and has air conditioning.

Two seating areas front the villa. One is furnished for dining at table; the other is more relaxing and informal.

And two garden areas complete the property.

To one side is the swimming pool with a timber surround in its lawned area; and on the other is a flower garden and small goldfish pond. The land then wraps round to a semi-planted orchard that acts as a natural buffer along the rear of the villa.

If the brightly presented villa grabs you, so will its location. Just ten minutes and you're in Ronda, the vibrant Andalusian town of bullfighting and bandits that so excited Ernest Hemingway and Orson Welles.

The classic attractions of the bridge over the town's deep chasm, the magnificent old bullring and museums vie these days with sophisticated shopping, restaurants and tapas bars.

The number and variety of Ronda hostelries can be bewildering and we'll send you our favourite recommendations. For home cooking, we’ll also direct you to easy-to-find nearby shopping.

Hikers will be keen to head over to Grazalema's limestone peaks for fabulous walks in the Natural Park just 30 minutes away, the Genal Valley, or the Sierra de las Nieves, while the drive down to the beaches on the Costa del Sol takes an hour.

Really enjoyed our stay at this property. Great location for visiting Granada and Seville too. The Villa is a very high standard - spotlessly clean, modern and well laid out. All rooms ensuite was great for us. The road to and from the property is VERY rural and narrow, (some better sign posting would help), but this means there is a good deal of privacy. The pool is excellent and the gardens feel spacious. The owner was pleasant, helpful and left us to enjoy our holiday. Only small issue is that the property seems to be surrounded by many barking dogs!! Didn't bother us too much but at night it does get quite loud outside! We would highly recommend this property, especially for families with older children/teenagers. Small children would need lots of supervision as there is an open pond as well as a pool in the grounds. We would certainly hope to return."

We loved this villa and spent a fantastic 10 days here with our family with three kids ages 12, 9 and 3. The house, which is situated just outside of Ronda, has everything one can ask for, both inside and outdoors. Spacious bedrooms, each with its own luxurious bathroom, a big and well equipped kitchen for cooking, lovely dvd room for the kids, and wonderful outdoor space with lots of green, flowers and toys for the little one. The pool, not huge but a decent size, was great too. We undertook quite some activities in the area (Sevilla, Via Ferrata, Bulls farm, Grazalema, Cat's cave) but also spent entire days relaxing by the house. Communications with Rustical Travel, information about the area and travel directions provided by them were very good too. One minor thing, upon arrival there was nobody to hand us the key while I was under the impression that Rustical Travel had informed the key holder of our arrival time. When we called the keyholder/owner, his wife came to show us around within 30 minutes so not a big issue at all. Thanks for a wonderful family vacation!!"

This was a very well situated villa and very well equipped with everything you needed including sharp knives! The villa is exactly as described with well-appointed rooms. The family photographs and general feel made it seem that you were staying with friends rather than in a rented villa. Bedrooms and showers were all excellent. You do need a car, though, as there isn't really anywhere to walk or eat within reasonable distance. That said, Ronda is a lovely town with all the facilities you'd need. This is a very private villa and you are not at all overlooked so you can really relax and enjoy yourselves in the pool and gardens. Our only slightly adverse comment is that we weren't 'welcomed' to the villa and shown around. We were given a key at the door with brief instructions on how to open the electric gate and were left to it. It might have been nice to have had a quick tour and also to know that there was a festival day when the shops were shut! Minor things, really."

Rustical Update

On arrival the keyholder shows the property to the guests and does a tour around. We are confirmed that the keyholder quickly left is a one off.
