Overview

Our first visit to this large estate was in March 2021. We knew that getting to this property meant driving through a long rural track with our Peugeot 208. We were told we would need to drive slowly and with care along the lane.

It took us about 15 minutes and we negotiated the acess without major inconveniences, and even though the journey was relatively long, the reward exceeded by far the precariousness of the long dirt road with its potholes.

It is an exciting, wild and totally private place.

Those who like untouched nature and disconnecting from the world for a few days, will find this place to be a paradise. It really is.

It is an eco house, with 280 m2 built on bedrock. It began in the SXII as a mill and now in twentieth century as a truly unique rural accommodation.

Many of its original features have been preserved and it is decorated with the charm it deserves.

Thanks to a sophisticated solar energy system, the property is self-sufficient. A spring provides fresh water. In Summer the house is easily kept at a comfortable temperature without the need for fans or air conditioning. In colder months the firewood is included and the owners explained to us that they have an efficient storage heating system to warm up the house. In addition, the firewood is included for the fireplaces.

If something characterizes this house, it is that it is at the foot of a beautiful waterfall. Several rooms have a view of the impressive fall, and just a few steps from the house Will take us under the water.

Along the river we can also find pools where to dip.

Although the presence of the river may make us think that there are many mosquitoes in Summer, we have no greater problem here than in other locations. Just in case, and to minimize the risk, the owners carry out an anti-mosquito Spring treatment and they also try to keep all the windows with mosquito nets.

The natural pool is nourished by spring water that, although entering and leaving the large pond, will keep it cool and transparent, its sunny position helps to regulate the temperature in the warmer months.

This incomparable setting is in the beautiful Els Ports Natural Park and, although we can do many excursions to discover this natural environment and picturesque villages, the truth is that this is a property that will invite us to spend most of our time at the finca.

A visit to the nearby town of Horta de San Jordi is recommended, to have lunch or dinner in one of its restaurants and taste the local produce and the excellent local wines.

Another day of excursion that is extremely worthwhile is the Ebro Delta, a haven of peace, very different, totally flat, but equally spectacular.

Local companies rent out bikes locally and some of the routes are easy and very recommendable.
