Overview

This totally private villa set in a beautiful pastoral scene with pretty views over the rolling hillsides of El Poniente Granadino.

Yet access couldn't be easier for such a private spot, along a 500 metre rural track which is shared with the occasional tractor. Although we wouldn´t say this villa is walking distance to town, you can still enjoy a pleasant walk into town from here. There is about 1.5 kms from the property; about 30 minutes walk to town, although on your way back is uphill and quite a climb.

This holiday property is set in an acre of natural woodland which rises up the hillside behind the villa. Wildflowers of all sorts grow among olive trees and evergreen oaks.

Tucked into the hillside, the unspoilt views are stunning; sunsets from here are memorable.

Inside the house is attractive and well-appointed with a kitchen where you will enjoy cooking. We found the kitchen spick and span and nicely fitted out.

We regard this property as good quality, decorated and finished to a high standard. It is homely but chic at the same time and it still has Spanish character.

The owners who are regular villa renters across rural Spain said they were determined to make their home above the average holiday home … and we think they have done very well!

El Poniente region is still an agricultural area with charm. Locals tend to be friendly and welcoming, and the lifestyle remains unhurried.

Montefrio village, awarded by National Geographic as one of the top ten towns in the world for its panoramic views, has a very relaxed, easy style. It's a pretty post-card village and it is only 5 minutes drive away!

You get here all facilities you may wish to have from plenty of bars and restaurants to butchers, fishmongers, supermarkets. The local produce is also excellent; don't miss their local cheese, olives, olive oil and local wine.

What a location for holidays in Andalusia!

Beautiful house that had everything we needed for a wonderful weeks holiday. The outside area and pool was lovely, so peaceful with amazing views. The local village is just a 5 minute drive away with a number of restaurants to taste the local cuisine which we thoroughly enjoyed. Would definitely recommend this house and would love to return."

A beautiful villa in a stunning setting. We loved it. However, on arrival we were told that we were not able to use one of the bedrooms as the bathroom had a leak. Apparently the plumber was going to attend. This didn't happen. While we understand that this sort of thing can happen, we feel very strongly that that we should have been made aware of this issue prior to our arrival. We had intentionally booked and paid for 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms for our family holiday and were not able to use a bedroom and a bathroom. Whilst we were able to use the pool, it very obviously needed some repairs. The water level dropped dramatically every day and did not reach the skimmers at all, causing a filtration issue. The caretaker was aware of this issue but we do feel that this problem should not have been left. We did ask about the pool lighting as it didn't ever come on and we couldn't find the switches...unfortunately we didn't receive a reply. I do also think extra bedding and bath towels would be a great idea. We stayed 9 nights with temperatures hitting 30 degrees...the beds needed changing and washing regularly, which I did..and the bath towels too. I look forward to hearing from you. Warm wishes, Paul Lenehan and family"

Rustical Update

In October 2023, the bathroom problem was sorted.

In February 2024 the property owners/managers confirmed that the issue with the pool water had been resolved.

A beautiful, large peaceful house with all the facilities you could require. Montefrio is a beautiful small town but we didn’t attempt the walk in from the house as it was a good distance. Some great recommendations for eating out in the house but check and confirm opening times. The pool is in some need of maintenance and couldn’t be filled fully which was a bit of a disappointment as it is a big attraction of the house but it was more the rain rather than the water level that stopped us using it more. The area surrounding the pool could also do with some maintenance. We experienced some heavy rain fall which caused some leaks at windows in the lounge and tripped the power but it appears the leaks are already known about. Fingers crossed we were just unlucky with the rain. An enjoyable week and we had perfect support from rustical travel to answer any questions we had leading up to the holiday. Would recommend and use rustical travel again"
