Overview

Sitting pretty between the grandeur of Granada’s Alhambra Palace and the citrus breezes of the Costa Tropical, you will find the Valley of Happiness. This is a place where lemon groves blaze, avocado trees dig their roots deep, and the warm Mediterranean nights seem at odds with the snowcapped peaks looming on the horizon.

This characterful little property seems to fit right in – oozing warmth, trimmed with artistic style, and edged with attention to detail.

Elegant French windows, exposed beams, cool tiles and bright and airy rooms are cozied up with colorful paintings, fat armchairs, and wooden furnishings.

The kitchen comes well equipped with plenty of room, and you can even break the mundanity of washing dishes by dreamily gazing at the dizzying heights of the Cerro del Caballo peak.

A ground floor bathroom and downstairs bedroom ensures a good level of accessibility for those with reduced mobility.

On the first floor you will find two more attractive bedrooms. In the morning, you can pad from bed to balcony to see the sun rise over the dipped valley.

The first floor also offers a second lounge which is great for families with teenagers, groups of friends, or self-contained couples who also want to keep a little space.

One of our favorite parts of this traditional Spanish home happened to be the sun splashed patio with its bright blue plunge pool. Large enough to boast a quaint al fresco space, loungers, and ample dipping pool – this is a great spot to soak up the Spanish heat with a jug of tinto de verano.

You can seamlessly whip up a tapas lunch in the kitchen and dine on the terrace, watching the light change over the hills.

The fact that the terrace is sealed from prying eyes and not overlooked by any other property, means that you can hide away for as long as you like.

Those who don’t want to hide away can explore the local village of Restabal, where the rhythm of life takes a slow and relaxed beat.

Sip cold cervezas in the small bar, stock up at the supermarket, and order fresh seafood from the mobile fishmonger.

If you want to go further afield you will find the cultural goldmine of Granada only thirty minutes away, the same for the pretty carved coast and the depths of the mountains.

YOUR REVIEWS

Laren | June | 2017

Fabulous house with amazing views and amenities, was immaculate both on the furnishings along with cleaning. We loved our stay and thought the location was ideal for exploring the region. The pool was wonderful and compact, all you need as a couple. Only feedback from us from a constructive point was that while the kitchen was perfectly kitted out; sharp knives would have been good. Also, we thought the bed linen and beds could be of a higher quality to keep in line with rest of the house. We would highly recommend both Rustical Travel and property AP48. We had a seemless check-in (local providers) for the property not too mention, Rustical Travel were highly professional to deal with once we made our booking and had a few questions. Thank you for a wonderful summer break."

Rustical Update

We have informed the property manager about the knives, beds and bed linen and they will look into it.

Our first time with Rustical Travel so was a bit unsure about how well this would work out. However, once booked the communication was excellent. Keys were handed over at local estate agents who spent some time explaining how best to get to property, how things work & what was around which was really helpful. Restabal village is full of tiny streets so you can't get car down to property very easily so were advised to park up in the square which is only a short walk away. It is what makes this property special as it feels very typically rural Spain. Property itself was excellent with a beautiful view & very quiet - apart from the cockerel next door !! Well equipped with everything we needed & good to find a number of room fans available.for those hot nights. The pool was clean & most welcome. Restabal is ideally placed to get to Granada so we went at least half a dozen times & the Alpajurras villages are just spectacularly placed. If you get chance try the walk to & from the Barranco de la Luna it was an amazing place. Rest assured this is a fabulous property, we felt well looked after by Rustical Travel & we had an amazing time in this delightful area of Spain. We will be back !!"

Wonderful alternative to staying in the city or tourist beach areas. This was a pretty valley in a wonderful location between Granada and the beaches. Great experience living in a village with friendly locals and a very comfortable home.

Everything about this property was wonderful, from the well equipped kitchen and dining areas to the spectacular views across the Lecrin Valley. We soon fitted into to village life, a hike in the morning, either in Valley or further afield into the Sierra Navadas, then returning mid afternoon to enjoy lazy afternoons on the patio relaxing in the sun or under the shaded pagoda, An early evening stroll to Bar Jovi with their ice cold beers, tasty tapas and good banter and conversation with the staff and clientele, followed by an alfresco dinner back at AP48 – paradise. Make sure you visit Pico del Valeta at the summit of Europes highest road (3398 metres). We drove best part of the way and hiked the rest. Fabulous views and great walking. (We watched many cyclists braving the ascent for a well earned drink at one of the few cafés near the summit). We highly recommend Bar Jovi and their adjoining restaurant Meson la Despensa del Valle, the tapas are the best we’ve had anywhere. Pre-order the slow baked leg of lamb (24 hours notice) for a sensational dinner in the traditional and atmospheric restaurant. We definitely hope to return."
