Overview

Here we have a very nicely put together villa in the Mediterranean mountain style that is immediately recognizable as Las Alpujarras. The whitewashed cottage look is complemented very nicely by a beautiful interior with comprehensive facilities, a smartly finished swimming pool, and loads of outdoor space in the form of patio-terraces, garden and a field.

Its a very private retreat, not overlooked.

The Low Alpujarra location has it interestingly off the beaten track in warm climes, where the pool season stretches from spring to late autumn. From Orgiva market town, a quiet country lane meanders up the broad river valley for 4 km until runs out of tarmac, and then a track takes you up to the villa at its awe-inspiring vantage point. The track's somewhat uneven but a normal car's all you need as long as you drive with care.

The scenery is thrilling. The dimensions here are so huge that the whole spectacle seems somehow supersized, the big sky, the deep valley, Sierra Lujar mountain opposite...

We found the villa thoroughly convincing, very pleasant inside and out. It feels fresh and cheerful, and both furnishings and appliances maintain high standards.

The villa has four bedrooms, a double and a single on either wing of the house. All four bedrooms have fans and fresh white Egyptian cotton sheets.

Its just made for Mediterranean-style country life, all ground floor with various doors opening to the outside world. French windows open to patios from the kitchen-diner and living room, and from one of the bedrooms, too. We liked the variety of patio-terraces that offer a change of scene according to the hour of the day. They include a shady outdoor dining area with barbecue.

The swimming pool is salt-filtered and has steps down into the water. It has a neat tile surround in a non-slip white stone which we found particularly attractive. There’s plenty of room for sunbathing on loungers.

By day the pool has grand views; at nighttime there is underwater lighting.

The swimming pool is gated and fenced round with children in mind. Parents should, however, be aware of a drop on the other side of the wooden railings if the children are very small.

Apart from that, the place is a childrens dream. Masses of outdoor space to run around and play in clean, healthy air under a huge sky and their own playground (slide & climbing frame) set up in a field.

The property has plenty of land and the privacy here is virtually complete, except for one field a little further away that is occasionally occupied by a donkey.

The Low Alpujarra location verging on the wilds of Sierra de Jubiley is dominated by the mass of Sierra de Lujar above the river Guadalfeo. It’s unlike the alpine environment of the high mountains, and more reminiscent of the light, colours and topography of northern Morocco.

Shopping, café-bars with terraces, restaurants and market are all in Orgiva ten minutes away. From here, you can choose from three roads for very different day trips: up to the mountain villages of the High Alpujarra, to Granada and the Alhambra, or to beaches on the coast 40 minutes away.

We loved our time at this villa. There really were no negatives or even points for improvement. We felt at home and we had everything we needed, and more besides. Incredibly comfortable and well equipped. We plan to return, would highly recommend"

We had a superb holiday! The communication from Rustical Travel was very good and we will use them again. The finca is beautiful, the gardens are lovely, the views superb and we had everything we needed. The salt pool was great and kept extremely clean by Nikki, who was great all round. The check in was really easy and smooth and all small issues were dealt with quickly and efficiently. We couldn't have asked for anything more. We had such an amazing time. We couldn't recommend it enough."

Jonathan | April | 2023

Would have rated this property 'excellent' apart from the intermittent flapping noise seemingly coming from the air-conditioning unit in the master bedroom. This meant that we had to swap bedrooms during our stay to ensure a good night's sleep for everyone. We would like to return, but would have to be certain this had been fixed before doing so."

Rustical Update

We followed this up again in a heat wave in July 2023, and the property manager said: -None of the guests have mentioned it to me. I have just asked the current guests, and they have said that it is actually quieter than aircon units that they are used to.  I was in touch with last week's guests quite a lot and think they would have mentioned it too if it was a problem.-
We are unsure what the issue may have been but doesn't seem to be a problem.

The house was setup to be livid in, a beautiful setting. It felt like coming home rather than just a business. one of the better houses we've stayed in and we all talked about coming back. One minor note is that it looked as though there used to be doors to the area infront of the house, if these were replaced it would be great for people with small children. One of us was thinking of coming back with her daughter and grandchildren but wasn't sure about access to the garden and then pool."

We absolutely loved this property. The views of the mountains are incredible. The house is secluded and peaceful with spacious gardens and an amazing pool. The owners have thought of everything and the house really feels like a home. There are so many books, dvds, board games, jigsaws and pool toys to choose from. The house has so much character, we loved all the different littles areas to chill out in. Location was great...easy 10 min drive into Orgiva for shops, bars etc.. yet when you return to the villa you feel like you're in a different world, nestled into the hills. We had a perfect week here. We really appreciated the wine, bread, milk etc..that was waiting for us on arrival. The house has so much"

A perfect hideaway, beautifully maintained in gorgeous surroundings: this was our third visit and probably not our last. Even though there are adjacent properties, it’s easy to spend an entire week there (as we did) without seeing another soul! The views are wonderful, the breeze keeps the July heat in check and the pool is a perfect temperature. Not the place if you want lots of nightlife (even Orgiva is a 20 minute drive), but if beauty and tranquillity (along with mod cons in the villa) is what you’re after, then you can’t really beat AP33."

Such a fantastic holiday!!! Rustical Travel were very professional, provided excellent information for our holiday, easy to use website and links and were simply a delight to deal with. I would definitely recommend them and use them again myself. The Finca we stayed at was absolutely stunning. It is the perfect balance of an authentic rustic finca, whilst being modernised with beautiful materials on the inside. It was like a sanctuary whilst keeping with the local finishes, culture, history and lifestyle. The owners have lovingly restored this property and kindly have left details about the history of the finca. The property is beautiful. The countryside is magical, there are beautiful walks, mountain villages to explore, local music performances to see, spanish cuisine to try and beaches within 45 minutes! On the land of the property there’s are many fresh fruit trees, we enjoyed fresh picked berries and oranges to make juice - divine! The swimming pool has the most amazing mountain views !! We enjoyed the property so much we extended our stay to two weeks when we arrived. The property is very child friendly, and the design is thoughtful as two families could easily stay and have some privacy or the children can have one side and the adults the other ! The owners and the people who maintain the villa are just a delight to deal with and have so much local information as well. In summary, people often refer to ‘God’s country’. This finca would definitely fit that description and has left a mark on our whole family forever. I feel privileged to have experienced this wonderful part of the world. Enjoy!!"

A lovely property - stunning location and very well appointed. The pool was great and warm enough to spend time in when we stayed at the end of May. House was clean, nicely laid out and had a well equipped kitchen. There was plenty of space indoors for a family of 6, but it was the outside space that really made the property - lots of terraces with wonderful views out across the valley and large landscape gardens which the kids loved roving around in. The road up to the property takes a bit of getting used to, but we navigated with a 7 seater for the week without any issues. All in all a great spot to relax with family and we would definitely recommend to others. Rustical Travel were also very good to deal with - very responsive to questions ahead of our trip and the info they provided on local area and how to reach the property was all very helpful. Will use again. Matt"

What an amazing property. It was everything we were looking for and more. A well furnished, well equipped home from home. Location was perfect and the property itself and it's surrounding area was just what we needed - it was beautiful, remote and idyllic. The perfect holiday! There was some sound advice from the owner, which we followed for our adventures and the pool was a well maintained added bonus with the perfect setting. Hello all, We have spend two weeks in this beautiful environment, and made all the pictures that we have seen, ourselves. So yes, it does exist: an unspoilt hidden place. We do not have a complaint about anything, only minor issue is that it is a bit away from supermarkets and some pleasure as nice terracces. It takes 3 quarters to go to nice places like Nerja for instances, on a very narrow road. Service - from cleaning to administration - of Rustical Travel was excellent. This is one of the best villas we have stayed in, so good you don't really want to go anywhere else. Its located up in the mountains and the scenery is beautiful. Its a small 10 minute one way track out of Orgiva and then you come to a grove of trees and your at the villa. Once inside, Its even better than the pictures and definitely has the wow factor. The garden is huge and is packed with beautiful flowers and fruit trees. The villa is really well equipped, the kitchen has everything you may need- dishwasher tabs, washing powder, etc so you don't need to bring anything like that with you. There was olive oil available, tea, coffee, and some milk and water to get you started. Beds were comfortable and everything was clean. There was a playstation and Wii, the TV channels were just local ones, but we didn't really bother with it at all. It was so nice outside, that's where we spent most of our time by the best feature - the pool. The pool was beautiful, large, clean and quite deep at one end there is a good bag of pool toys and inflatables available in the outdoor store. My little boy learned to swim in that pool, its a lovely little area around the pool with lots of loungers and table, parasol. There is an impressive BBQ area, but one of the best spots is the outside sofa bed - perfect for reading and relaxing. We visited the little white washed villages, high up in the mountains (Capileira, Bubión) we also visited Granada, if you want to visit the Alhambra, please book in advance or you could be disappointed! All in all an amazing villa, the wine and welcome card was a lovely personal touch - thank-you. We also thought Rustic Travel were great, they sent out a fantastic information pack prior to our hols."

This is the second time we have stayed at this wonderful property (booked through Rustical Travel on both occasions), and it was just as beautiful as we remembered. The large grounds are great for kids to run around and explore and the pool was a real hit, as were the inflatables which were all in good condition. The air conditioned master bedroom provided welcome relief from the 38C heat of the day. Both Granada and also the coastal beaches are within was reach, as are the nearby mountain villages making this an ideal location to explore this part of Spain. This remains the best Spanish villa we have stayed in and we will definitely be returning."

This beautiful, well-maintained property was so delightful that we had a hard time tearing ourselves away to explore nearby areas. The bicyclist biked up to snow-topped mountains; hikers walked nearby hills; the architect prowled white villages. The one-year-old rolled oranges around -- so many balls under those fruit trees! -- and loved stomping in the shallows of the gorgeous pool. Our favorite part of each day was dinner on the porch as the sun set and stars bloomed across the sky. We hope to return."

Our trip to Orgiva and AP33 was wonderful. The secluded location of the villa with stunning views and grounds made it the perfect get-away. The accommodation was perfect and the villa had everything we needed for a wonderful break with our friends from Australia. The pool was lovely, and the outside eating space was more than we expected. The outside sofa-bed is an inspired creation and was a great way to get out of the heat of the sun and still relax outside. It was exceptionally hot when we stayed there this August and so my only suggestion would be that all the bedrooms need air-conditioning as it was really difficult to sleep at night. Apart from that it was a delight and we would love to return for another visit."

We had a great holiday at this beautiful villa - rural Spain made a very interesting change from the usual seaside resorts. Set in a beautiful location, the villa had everything, from a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable tasteful decor and furnishings to a magnificent terraced garden, complete with a children's play area and a superb pool. We enjoyed wandering round the garden and picking fresh figs, pomegranates and almonds ! Beautiful villa and we really enjoyed our stay. The view was absolutely stunning, and it was fun to look up at the stars every night. There were two things which we didn't enjoy; the first was the road up to the villa. Whilst the description told us that it was a rough road, we didn't realise how dangerous it actually was and so hadn't hired the right car to do the journey. It would have been useful for the dangers of the road to have been spelled out fully - for example we couldn't have navigated it when dark. The other factor was the sheer volume of wasps; whilst I know that this can't be helped, we couldn't eat outside as often as we wanted which defeated the purpose of booking the villa."

Rustical Update

An exquisitely beautiful setting and a truly outstanding villa with wonderful attention to detail. The large garden is so pretty, and the pool a good size. Numerous areas to sit and all designed to take full advantage of the amazing views. We loved the seclusion but visitors should be aware that the location is quite a drive down a track which may not suit some. Loved it!"
