Overview

We love adding villas to our portfolio such as this one, that provide attractive features and high quality. These being, holiday homes that are arranged on one level, have great privacy and views, enjoy a sunny position, and offer good facilities throughout. This cottage comes pretty close to meeting our standards for our luxury collection!

The beds are a good size, the bathrooms are decorative, and the facilities are great. The conservatory has a wood oven, and the underfloor heating is a cosy feature during the colder months.

This property belongs to a local family who originally thought it would be their home, so they made sure it had everything they needed. Over time, the family decided to turn their home into a holiday cottage for couples or small families.

This is pretty much a safe bet for anyone looking for a quality place to stay during their holiday in Andalucia.

The climate here brings four marked seasons, with the sun being the star attraction. You will very likely be spending a great deal of time outside, enjoying your personal patch of Andalusian mountain countryside.

A network of paths that joins together neighbouring villages enables you to enjoy some marvellous walks all year. They take you along tracks past well-tended market gardens, apple and cherry orchards, isolated farmhouses and the all-important system of acequias (irrigation channels), that keep everything watered and alive.

As you ascend above the villa, the sea comes into view (see photo), reminding you that the Mediterranean beaches are close enough for an enjoyable day trip.

During the hottest hours of the afternoon in high summer (which as everyone knows here in Andalucia are what siestas were invented for), we suggest you cool off, rest and enjoy a dip.

The villa’s position on the rise of a hill means that gentle breezes roll in and ease the heat, creating a truely comfortable and tranquil space.

The property is reached from a country lane up a steepish, winding track: a normal size hire car with decent power is recommended.

You have two good, small supermarkets in the villages of Portugos and Pitres to choose from and all your typical shopping needs should be met here. There is also a short-cut to Portugos village via a path that takes just 10 minutes; but take a torch at night and mind the brambles!

We’ll send you a detailed local guide with useful information for the area as one of your holiday documents. The guide will tell you about local attractions such as the Poqueira Gorge, give you booking information for the Alhambra if you're planning a trip to Granada and want to see the magnificent palace, and directions to a special little beach on the Costa Tropical.

YOUR REVIEWS

Joanna | July | 2023

Great property, beautiful area for a fab holiday!"

Katy | June | 2023

This is a beautiful villa, high in the Alpujarras that looks across the mountain valleys and across to the white villages. It has been decorated in the moorish style and built to a very high standard. We had a wonderful trip, including strolling through the valley, high mountain walking and quiet nights in cooking with the "horno". As with many villas in the Alpujarras, this is in a high remote location with long winding tracks, so be prepared for mountain driving!"
