    Sleeps 6

4-ring electric hob; Oven; Dishwasher; Microwave; Coffee machine; Kettle; Fridge-freezer.

Practicalities

Notes on Facilities
It is impossible to park adjacent to the cottage (a traffic-free street), but there is usually free parking space at the nearby square.

A cast iron wood burner partially warms up the living area, so firewood should be purchased locally for colder months to warm up the living area (firewood at an additional cost).

The bathroom on the first floor has a bathtub only (baths, not showers). The downstairs bathroom does have a shower..

The hot water is stored in a large tank. Please bear in mind that when the house has maximum occupancy (for instance, 5 or 6 people), the hot water may occasionally be limited if several baths are taken simultaneously, in which case allowing some time between baths or showers solves this.

Layout

Ground floor

First floor
Bedroom 2: Double bed with access to small private terrace; Bedroom 3: Twin beds with balcony; Bathroom (bathtub only); 2nd large terrace; Interior patio.

Overview

Although it is now a holiday property, this house really does have the feel of a loved home, built with care, rustic, spacious and charmingly decorated. Bubion in the high Alpujarra is a beautiful holiday destination. It's a historic village with a special setting in the dramatic Poqueira Gorge.

Being perched on the edge of Bubion gives you views as good as they come in La Alpujarra: quite magnificent, down the gorge and across to the distant Mediterranean Sea where the sun sets. You are still in the historic quarter of the village, but set amidst superb mountain tranquility. The property is in a protected spot that allows sunlight to flood in while evading the cold winter winds.

As you come into the house, the first thing you find is an invitingly large, high-ceilinged living room with room to seat six people comfortably. Here at once you have those fabulous views through big windows. It leads directly to the country-style kitchen, with views down the valley that aren´t bad either…

We recommend breakfast in the kitchen looking down to the Mediterranean Sea. Meals in this kitchen are simply a treat, and easy to cook as it comes well equipped. A shady porch area provides an equally pretty place for relaxing with drinks.

Downstairs is a bathroom and a charming, interior double bedroom with a small window.

Upstairs, the light reaches into every corner. It’s all very pleasant, with a warm feel to it.

Both upstairs bedrooms enjoy superb views and have access to a large terrace to enjoy the unbeatable Alpujarran scenery. The bathroom combines rusticity with some luxurious touches. The master bedroom is generously sized; it has a private terrace as well as doors opening to the larger terrace. The mattress – yes, we tried it – is very good, and king size.

The twin-bedded room has a lovely balcony. Both rooms have wooden oak floors. And there’s an extra surprise up here: an interior patio, providing a little corner for reading or having a mint tea from the garden and keeping cool in the hotter months.

With its two terraces and interior upstairs patio, as well as plenty of shaded space outside by the entrance to sit and admire the landscape, this house is as pleasant for outdoor as it is for indoor living.

The holiday cottage is well equipped so guests can be confident of comfort and convenience to go with the rustic style and feel.

We have stayed at this villa many times now and love our holidays there. It's a very attractive house with great views and everything you could need to feel at home."

Mark | November | 2023

Fantastic place to spend a peaceful time. We will return. Bubion, not being at road-end like Capirleria - and especially Trevelez - sees less tourist, hence quieter. The location of the house in the village is ideal."

Rustical Travel are brilliant to book through, we have used them for years and the information they supply is second to none. The property was well appointed, fantastic location with stunning views down the gorge and would definitely consider this property again, just enough bars, restaurants and shops to keep you going, with larger villages either side of Bubion."

The property exceeding our wishes by a country mile! An absolutely beautiful property and I didn't want to leave. The home was perfect: clean, substantial in size and it epitomised the beauty of Spanish architecture. Breakfast on the patio unforgettable and the lady who took us to the property went way beyond the call of duty in staying late to not only help find the home but also to find us a place open to eat late at night when we arrived after plane delays. Altogether, an amazing stay. Thank you."

Melchor | March | 2022

Excellent views, and lovely terraces. Upstairs bathroom doesn't have a shower curtain so water goes everywhere. Mattresses could be improved too, as they weren't very comfortable. If you have a car, it is very difficult to park near the property as the streets are verynarrow, so the best option is leaving the car at the car park near restaurant Teide. Overall, the experience was very good, I recommend it."

We had a super time with our dog and 3 year old. The house was stunning, tasteful and spacious with extraordinary views. It’s very close to a really lush cafe in the square and a beautiful walk. It’s definitely worth the drive to the local reservoirs which are beautiful too. Top tip is to visit the supermarket on your way into the village and stock up as there isn’t really much of a pop in shop. Thanks so much for a fantastic 4 day break and memories to last with us and our family."

We loved the property. It was such a lovely example of Alpujarran local life. The house we clean, well kept, and had everything we needed. Louisa gave us a good orientation. The views were amazing and we fell in love with our neighbors. An old man who farms the adjacent small field (and his charming dogs); "Tem", the English lady who lives across the calle near the spring below the house; and the dogs and cats who regularly checked up on us. The hike up the hill to the main part of down certainly got our hearts racing--and we are all in pretty good shape. We enjoyed Bubion as Capaleira and the home was a great place for exploring the region on foot and by car. A perfect place. We hope to return here for a more extended time of rest and enjoyment of Spanish village life. And the Rustica team is wonderful--every communication was perfect, all details thought out in advance. We will gladly vacation in Spain wherever there is a Rustica property!"

This stunning home is located right on the edge of Bubion overlooking the landscapes of the Poqueira valley. From the front door and 1st balcony you can see down into the village of Capileira. The variety of terraces and balconies makes it a great place to stay for families. Hikers will also adore this location as the path is directly on the doorstop. This rural retreat was a tonic for my break in June 2019. Bubion is less touristy than the other more popular villages in this region but still has enough on offer to make a pleasant stay. Supermarkets, a handful of bars on the main road and charming atmosphere."

Absolutely delightful property. Very homely. Wonderful views and a charming village. The house is very well equipped - good wifi, plenty of kitchen accessories, towels, linen, etc. The cautionary note on the website and in joining instructions about the inability to get a car close to the property to drop off / collect heavy luggage is worth taking into account. A smaller vehicle might get to within 150m, but larger cars would be 350m-400m from the house. All of that remaining distance is then on very steep, sometimes cobbled streets / stairs, so it is ok for fitter guests but potentially a challenge for older people or anyone with a disability. Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay. Thank you!"

We had an amazing time. It's a truly beautiful cottage and so relaxing. Many thanks for all your help Some, hopefully, helpful suggestions follow: - it would be nice to have an awning or some form of temporary shelter on the south facing bedroom balcony. It's so gorgeous up there but you can't really sit there after 10.30am. - we didn't have a car so it would be useful to have a bus timetable in the documentation (although we easily found one at the bus stop) - you could add to details of the Mulhacen walk in the High Alpujarra Guide that some guests spend the night at the mountain refuge and approach the summit from the west side (we did this and it means you don't have to retrace your steps on the descent). And we walked all the way back to Bubion too, rather than wait for the bus - but that was a long walk! Gracias."

Graham | June | 2018

Our accommodation at AP10 was out of this world. My wife’s jaw dropped when we walked through the door. Decorated just how she (I mean we like!) and beautifully airy in hot summer days.Although we were just 2, I imagine it is just as ‘spacious’ in feel whether it be 2 or 8 but we found it very welcoming with all the facilities you need.We cooked very little – breakfasting indoors and out according to our mood and mainly ate out for lunch. The steepness of the walk to and from the El Teide car park at the top of the village was always challenging but we convinced ourselves it was doing us good. We are not seasoned hikers – living near the coast in Suffolk UK means we don’t really have hills to practice on – but we thoroughly enjoyed many local walks in and around the 3 villages including Bubion. We hired a car from Malaga Airport and it took 2 hours with the last 25 minutes from Orgiva by far the most pleasant. However, I do recommend leaving the car at the Teide top car park and not trying to negotiate the very narrow streets to the Church Square. We had a Toyota Auris so not big but still big enough to find negotiating the streets difficult.Louisa, the caretaker was very good and despite our very limited Spanish we understood the basics and I think she understood us. She did pop down to see us a few days into our holiday to ask if it was ok that some workmen were coming on the following Monday (25th June) to clear an area in front of the Casa of scrub, weeds etc. That was no problem for us but I think we were all amused as initially we thought she was talking about the bright moon (lunar) for some reason whereas she was actually stating it was Monday (lunes) that they would be coming.I hope we left the place in reasonable condition.Thank you again, and although lots of people say it – I would love to think we could return again in the not too distant future."

This is one of the nicest holiday properties we have stayed in. Very well equipped, real home from home. It was pretty cold and wet at times during our stay so sadly did not get much time sat outside on the lovely terraces, but the cottage was warm and comfortable. We took walking maps and books with us, although there were some at the property, and we walked almost every day. Word of warning, if you take a car down to the property it is very narrow and steep (as advised) - we did not attempt this more than once! All in all, a lovely period property, beautiful views, well positioned for walking."

This is a lovely holiday home, and it really is a home rather than just another holiday let. You needs to be fit to walk back up to the main road though! The house has everything you could need for your holiday and the views from both terraces are gorgeous. Bubion is a lovely village to spend some time in with some amazing walks right on your doorstep. Highly recommend El Tiede restaurant (great food, huge portions) and you get tapas with every drink. The local contact for AP10, Luisa, is really helpful and does everything to make your stay enjoyable, including putting up with my very out-of-practice Spanish."

Lynne | January | 2018

We stayed here 14-22/1/18 and would highly recommend. The cottage is very well equipped, wonderfully clean and very cosy and warm. We have had many a January holiday in Spain and can honestly say that this is the warmest property we have stayed at, the heating system works very well as it did drop to -4 at night. The cottage has fantastic views, lots of space and is private. We walked down to the cottage with our luggage from the car park but would recommend reversing down the road almost to the cottage when re loading luggage. The driving instructions for this are not on the information supplied by RT but you will figure it out once in the village. We walked over 100km using the Charles Davies and Sunflower guides. Walks are amazing if not hard work. We hardly saw anyone else on the walks and had fabulous clear blue skies even though we arrived in the snow! Supermarkets are not open on Sunday’s, not even the large stores en route. Having arrived on a Sunday we wished we’d ordered a welcome pack, however, the local restaurant sold us some milk ( we had lunch there) and we had taken some cereal fir breakfast/tea bags so we survived! There are Dia supermarkets in Orgiva and Lanjarron, we stocked up prior to our first walk in Lanjarron. We were left alone during our stay which is what we prefer. I would highly recommend AP10 and Rustical Travel, I already have a shirt list fir future holidays and hope to take our dog!"

David | January | 2018

We had a absolutely wonderful time in this super cottage. The position of the property gives you fantastic views straight along the Poqueira gorge heading towards the Mediterranean and despite the fact we were staying at the end of January the weather was warm enough to sit out to enjoy the afternoon sun and take in the vista whilst the sound of running mountain streams and birdsong fill the air. The cottage itself has all the facilities you could need. A comfortable bed, clean bathrooms, TV and DVD's for one to watch while relaxing in front of log fire and the lounge follows into a pleasant and well equipped kitchen where the morning sun glows through the windows as you eat breakfast. It was our first winter holiday in La Alpujarra and the central heating kept the property at a pleasant temperature during the evening as well as the fore mentioned fireplace. The beauty of late January is seeing the snow capped mountains, the hillsides dotted with the colour of Almond tree blossom and when you get down to Orgiva and the low Alupjarra all the Orange and Lemon trees where in full harvest. The key holder who meets and greets you once in Bubion is called Louisa, she was very attentive and responded in person and quickly to a couple of enquiries we had during our stay. I would like to point out that the location of the cottage is at the end of a steep walk so not best suited to those with mobility issues, otherwise it's a great place to holiday !"

John | September | 2017

we spent a wonderful week at Bubion. The villa was superb. certainly one of the best villas in the village for outstanding views. Beds were comfy, kitchen well stocked with utensils. Bubion is one of 3 villages and probably the least "touristy". You will need to be fit though as AP10 is positioned at the bottom of the village and the walk up to the main part is steep. you will certainly be fitter when you come back than when you went (it is in a mountain range after all). the walk to the other 2 villages are lovely. Capileira sits above Bubion and is the most Touristy of them, Pampaneira sits below.. The walk back up from Pampaneira is a little challenging but we certainly enjoyed it. There are 2 main decent restaurants in Bubion. We spent most of our time in Tiede. as mentioned, the food is plentiful and not at all bad. Estacion 4 is a little more upmarket. .expect prices in both to be around 8-14 euros for a main meal. There are 2 supermarkets (both more like mini markets) and both were shut on Sunday, so make sure you stock up. The Rustica Travel info pack was excellent and covered everything. We drove from the airport without issue using the written directions included in the pack. to be honest, driving in Spain was easier than I expected, although the mountain roads up towards Bubion are a little hairy with large trucks using the roads as well. Travel time was around 1.5 hours. Weather was absolutely perfect and because you are located in the Gorge, you get a lovey warm breeze. All restaurants we used, brought Tapas with drinks and these can be quite filling but delicious. Surprisingly, there are quite a few ex pats and English Tourists in the village, but they were all lovely and not your typical "type". Downsides.........1. The locals don't pick up their "dog poop" lol. 2. there was a pack of very noisy dogs down in Pampaneira which would kick off almost every hour at night and meant we had to sleep with the windows shut. Would we go back? Absolutely!!!"

We spent 10 days at this delightful cottage. It is well equipped, clean comfortable. The balcony/terrace areas at the front and side give areas for sitting in sun or shade during the day and the views are just spectacular. It is well situated for walks up and down the valley, (all very steep.) The village of Bubion is very steep and we found it easiest to leave the car in the car park by the restaurant and walk down to the cottage rather than negotiate the narrow and winding streets to the square, from which it is still a short walk to the cottage."

Such a lovely house, and with amazing views! The kitchen is well appointed, everything was just as advertised. If anything, the pictures didn't do it justice. The handover with Luisa was easy. Can't fault it. We will definitely be wanting to book with you again!"

The house was exactly what we had hoped for: peaceful (off-season), warm, simply but generously equipped, and spacious. Wonderful views and amazing weather effects, from sunsets to mists rolling up the Porquiera valley, with snow-capped surrounding hills. Any number of fantastic walks to suit varying levels of energy in the immediate vicinity. Fresh mountain water from the town's many fountains was a special treat. The whole experience was relaxing and restorative. Faultlessly organised by Rustical Travel, with detailed notes about the house, Bubiòn and the surrounding area as well as excellent directions for travel to and from Malaga. Only criticism is of ourselves: we should have made time to stay twice as long!"

Our second time in AP10, so that must say something? Calle Buena Vista certainly lives up to its name with great views from the property's two terraces. Inside, the house has everything you'd need to enjoy a holiday in the Alpujarras. The dusty clothes worn on the many trails and paths cleaned easily and quickly with the washing machine, no need to spend time staring out of the window admiring the view whilst cleaning the dishes, pop them into the dishwasher and get out and explore the area. All in all, great facilities and a nice house....five stars !"

My wife and I stayed at AP10 for 9 glorious days in September. We are mountain hikers and love nature. AP10 is magnificent from the kingsize bed and terrace in the master bedroom to the fully functional kitchen where I prepared wonderful dinners to the very comfortable living room couches. Every window looks out on a different view of the mountains. We had three others join us for the first few days and the house was comfortable for all 5. The house is on the edge of Bubion at the path that leads to Pompaniera (which has a delicious chocolate shop). Bubion is the quietest of the 3 towns in the Poqueira Gorge. Rustical Travel's information, communication and description were a 10 out of 10 and Louisa, the caretaker was wonderful helping with many things and always available.. One note of caution, just walking around involves a lot of hiking up and down. Unless you are an experienced driver on hills, one should park at the lot behind El Teide, the restaurant by the main road through Bubion, and walk to the house. You will get a lot of great exercise:) I hesitated writing this review and making AP10 even more popular because we want to come back to AP10 and stay for a month next time."

Firstly the service and information provided by the Rustical Travel team and their local representative was first class, thank you. The property was as described and was everything we wished for, the accommodation was comfortable and well appointed with the stunning views as promised. The walk to the local store and restaurant through the village was enjoyable and helped keep us fit ( not recommended for anyone with a mobility issue)- friendly local people who seemed to appreciate our (sometimes inadequate) efforts to speak Spanish. In all a really great holiday -we would certainly recommend Rustical Travel and The Alpujarra!"

We loved this property. This is the second time we've stayed in a cottage with Rustical Travel and, like the first time (in the north of Spain), it was a complete success. The house is in a lovely village and has the most beautiful views. We had breakfast outside every morning looking at the hills and the other village further down. The house is very well equipped, and has everything you need. My only criticism is that the bed is too hard, but some people like hard beds. The house is beautifully decorated with a lot of traditional features. Bubión is a gorgeous and very interesting village in the Barranco de Poqueira and I think it's the most beautiful of the three in the gorge. People in the area are incredibly kind and friendly. And Luisa, the housekeeper, and her partner Luis are lovely people. The area is fantastic for hill walkingwith walks from the house. People with restricted mobility should be aware that the house is at the bottom of the village and that you can't reach it by car. You can get close, but you can't reach it. Getting back up the hill can be hard if you are not very mobile. Very impressed with the service received from Rustical Travel. All in all, it's a wonderful property and we would love to go back."

Thank you Javier and your team for another lovely holiday. We stayed in AP10 in Bubion from the 16th to 23rd may. The house was absolutely wonderful, particularly the view from the terraces. Bubion is a lovely place and we particularly enjoyed El Teide restaurant which we would recommend to future visitors. We will be using your company again for future holidays, best wishes christine.

We loved our vacation property! It was very comfortable and clean, and the views are fantastic. Only comment is that we had to replace a lot of household items that we thought would have been left for us, like trash bags, toilet paper, and dishwashing detergent. No big deal, probably cost 5 euros total to replace. Loved the town, Teide, and the towns above and below us!"

My partner and I wanted to express our thanks, as we have loved staying here in this house, which is so comfortable and homely and has everything we could need. We felt at completely at home here from the moment we entered, and have had a wonderful stay as a result. We're also very grateful for all the information provided in advance - Rustical a Travel covered everything to ensure we faced no problems at all. We'd love to come and stay here again in the future - I hope we can, and look forward to it already!

You will probably not want to advertise our comments on your site, but we believe that would be useful for you to be aware of. We were very pleased with the accommodation overall; it is stated that it is Rustic and it was. We thought it was a wonderful house and thoroughly enjoyed our week there; despite the weather! However, the CD/radio did not work at all and, more importantly the washing machine did not rinse or spin which was most inconvenient. The previous week we had just come from a property in the Antequerra region and could not fault any of the facilities etc at all. I believe it comes from checking that all of the facilities actually work before advertising them. A minor point, but we were unsure of what we were expected to do with the key on the last day. We waited until 11 am and as no-one showed up we left the key in the door of the property. Perhaps a few details regarding the last day would be appropriate. Once again, overall we were very happy with the house, region and your description of the property and would happily stay in one of your houses in the future."

Rustical Update

From October 2014, there is now a new Bosch washing machine and a small Hi-Fi which also plays MP3. A house book is also provided and should include details on what to do with the key on departure as well as plenty of other details about the property itself.

We had an excellent holiday in the Alpujarras. The property was ideally located and we thought the layout of the property suited us very well. I would recommend the property to anyone (although you do have to be reasonably fit). I only have 2 minor criticisms. The shower downstairs was broken and you had to hold the shower head rather than stand under it. The property had plenty of books but could have benefitted from a few DVd's. But these are minor things."

Rustical Update

Property manager had not realized of shower holder was broken but this has been repaired. We have also asked for a few DVD´s to be left at the property for future guests.

What a fabulous holiday cottage which was well equipped. Set in the most stunning scenery and very peaceful and quiet. Luisa who took us to the property was very helpful and just lovely - nothing too much trouble for her so a big thank Luisa. We had the most amazing holiday and I can't recommend this property highly enough. Rustical Travel were most helpful with all the information they supplied to help make our arrival and stay at AP10 as stress free and relaxing as possible. A big thank you goes to them also. Would certainly recommend this property and Rustical Travel to others."

We just wanted to thank you for the wonderful holiday we had in Bubion last week (property AP10), thanks in no small part to Rustical Travel. Your website is clear and accurate, as were your driving instructions and local recommendations. Luisa, our key holder, met us promptly even after we had to contact her to say we were running late. Your professionalism at every stage allowed us to simply enjoy our holiday – if only all travel companies were like you... With many thanks and best wishes"

We were so pleased we used Rustical Travel as everything was done to a high standard from the booking onwards. The paperwork we had regarding the property and how to get there had so much detail (even included photographs on getting through the narrow streets), plus information regarding the other villages, shops, festivals etc., nothing was left out. We were met by a lovely lady who directed us the house and showed us round and what a fantastic property it was. The house was even better then we had expected, nothing again was lacking and the setting was amazing. We had a wonderful week and would love to go back again. We would recommend Rustical Travel and hope to use them again in the future."

We love AP10, Bubion and the walking here. In fact we are going to book for September next year when we can ascend Mulhacen when the snow has melted! We never return to the same place but are making an exception for AP10, it doesn't get any better! We would love to post a positive review for you. "

We have just returned home from our week in Bubion and wanted to say a big thank you to you and your colleagues at Rustical Travel. We loved the area of La Alpujarra and the village of Bubion and the experience was made all the better because the holiday cottage was absolutely wonderful. We have been in many apartments/cottages over the years and I can honestly say that this was the best of the lot. The accommodation and the location of the property was fantastic. Add to that the wealth of information you sent us which was so helpful and the end result was a great holiday for us and our friends. Thank you so much. I was very impressed with everything about Rustical Travel and I will definitely be recommending you to our friends. Keep up the good work!"

My husband and I wanted to say thank you again for all your help with the accommodation in Bubion. We had a wonderful time in the area and enjoyed staying in AP10 as well. We were delighted to have the time to explore this part of Spain (the Sierras and the villages are terrific) and are looking forward to visiting it again. We will definitely come to you first on our next holiday planning to Spain and will gladly recommend you to our friends and family. I hope you have a lovely Easter holiday."
