Overview

After we visited this holiday home, we felt this would be one of our favourite holiday homes where we would love to stay ourselves one day.

The location is pastoral and genuine. It is hard to believe you are around the corner from fashionable Tarifa, known as Surfers Meca, a sea town with a relaxed Moroccan feel.

This fully restored 200-year-old cottage oozes rustic charm with original features and lovely touches here and there. We particularly loved the Ocean views from the first-floor shower room and the bedroom.

Although an eclectic mix of facilities ranges from luxurious to more basic and rustic, the house ranks well for comfort. The bare built-in bedroom shelves to store clothing may be primary. Still, you find excellent quality tilt-and-turn windows or high-quality kitchen appliances, among other attractive facilities throughout the house.

We found this quirky holiday home to be tastefully decorated. It is welcoming and attractive, with plenty of natural warmth from elements such as the old terracotta floors and wooden beams.

At nighttime, this holiday home becomes just as exciting as during the daytime, thanks to its night lighting. The atmosphere here, where Europe meets Africa and the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic, is intriguing.

Although the villa is in a hamlet and there are few other houses around, you can enjoy good levels of privacy.

We had a chance to visit the local hamlet bar, a great little place with a little supermarket to have a delicious breakfast or a gin and tonic! And it is within walking distance from the house.

But what's even more exciting is that you are less than 10 mins drive from two of the most beautiful beaches in Spain. To one side lies the unspoilt beach of Bolonia, with its fascinating Roman ruins. On the other side of the rocky mountain of San Bartolo, which rises up directly behind the property, is the beach of Punta Paloma with its enormous sand dunes.

Both are renowned for their clear blue waters and expansive, golden beaches of the finest sand.

The entire area around you is a highly protected Natural Park called Parque Natural del Estrecho (The Strait Natural Park), an emblematic spot for nature lovers.

You'll be spoiled for choice with so many activities in this area. Staying at your villa, lounging by the pool or spending a morning at the beach is attractive, but there is so much more to do!

If you are active and like hiking, the local area is excellent for walks, and you don't need to drive.

The local restaurants are excellent; some are so close you can practically walk to them.

There are also local chic bars and clubs, and the ambience for younger people (and not so young) may be just as appealing as it would be somewhere in Ibiza.

Depending on the season, you can watch dolphins and whales; this is one of the most popular activities here.

The fact that you can almost touch Africa from this location, with towns like Tangiers easily visible, may entice you to take a ferry and spend a day there. And don't worry, you won't be too far from your holiday home; the ferry to Tangiers from the nearby town of Tarifa is only 35 minute's away! You will be amazed to find such a different culture within just a few kilometres.

YOUR REVIEWS

David | January | 2024

Loved the enclosed yard for the dogs to play in. Loved the sunrises. Loved the fireplace and Angel's services. Would be good to let people know, however, that there is no hot water in the kitchen sink or the washing machine."
