Overview
After we visited this holiday home, we felt this would be one of our favourite holiday homes where we would love to stay ourselves one day.
The location is pastoral and genuine. It is hard to believe you are around the corner from fashionable Tarifa, known as Surfers Meca, a sea town with a relaxed Moroccan feel.
This fully restored 200-year-old cottage oozes rustic charm with original features and lovely touches here and there. We particularly loved the Ocean views from the first-floor shower room and the bedroom.
Although an eclectic mix of facilities ranges from luxurious to more basic and rustic, the house ranks well for comfort. The bare built-in bedroom shelves to store clothing may be primary. Still, you find excellent quality tilt-and-turn windows or high-quality kitchen appliances, among other attractive facilities throughout the house.
We found this quirky holiday home to be tastefully decorated. It is welcoming and attractive, with plenty of natural warmth from elements such as the old terracotta floors and wooden beams.
At nighttime, this holiday home becomes just as exciting as during the daytime, thanks to its night lighting. The atmosphere here, where Europe meets Africa and the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic, is intriguing.
Although the villa is in a hamlet and there are few other houses around, you can enjoy good levels of privacy.
We had a chance to visit the local hamlet bar, a great little place with a little supermarket to have a delicious breakfast or a gin and tonic! And it is within walking distance from the house.
But what's even more exciting is that you are less than 10 mins drive from two of the most beautiful beaches in Spain. To one side lies the unspoilt beach of Bolonia, with its fascinating Roman ruins. On the other side of the rocky mountain of San Bartolo, which rises up directly behind the property, is the beach of Punta Paloma with its enormous sand dunes.
Both are renowned for their clear blue waters and expansive, golden beaches of the finest sand.
The entire area around you is a highly protected Natural Park called Parque Natural del Estrecho (The Strait Natural Park), an emblematic spot for nature lovers.
You'll be spoiled for choice with so many activities in this area. Staying at your villa, lounging by the pool or spending a morning at the beach is attractive, but there is so much more to do!
If you are active and like hiking, the local area is excellent for walks, and you don't need to drive.
The local restaurants are excellent; some are so close you can practically walk to them.
There are also local chic bars and clubs, and the ambience for younger people (and not so young) may be just as appealing as it would be somewhere in Ibiza.
Depending on the season, you can watch dolphins and whales; this is one of the most popular activities here.
The fact that you can almost touch Africa from this location, with towns like Tangiers easily visible, may entice you to take a ferry and spend a day there. And don't worry, you won't be too far from your holiday home; the ferry to Tangiers from the nearby town of Tarifa is only 35 minute's away! You will be amazed to find such a different culture within just a few kilometres.
Location
Hamlet in the hills of natural protected parkland (Parque Natural del Estrecho).
On edge and above a hamlet close to Tarifa. There is a primary shop and bar in the hamlet. A rural track of 100 metres accesses your holiday home. All you need is an ordinary car (but not a low-slung sports car).

We had a fabulous stay in this lovely spacious house. The layout and stylish decor along with the huge garden and great pool area make it an easy place to just while away the days relaxing and unwinding. The walks from the house are also wonderful and Amalio was so helpful with routes and local knowledge. Every you need, including lovely beaches, is so close by. We also loved the local donkey visiting us frequently to enjoy the grass. We'd hope to return."

+ Read morePerfectly rustic and rural, whilst near enough everything you’d need. Plenty of room in the house, well equipped kitchen, beautiful garden and pool, Stunning setting with a wonderful view, a donkey who would wait patiently by the gate, we chose to let him in. I also loved the sounds of the cow bells and we were visited by horses and a foal too! Air con is only in the master bedroom, plenty of fans throughout. The sounds at night were magical, it at times felt like you were in Africa which you could see across the sea. Great communication from the hosts. Our plane was delayed by 24 hours and they were so helpful and accommodating, even allowing us a later check out. We have two teenagers and we spent the week pretty much relaxing by the pool, chilling in the pool house, Hiking in the mornings straight from the house, we went sunset horse riding at the local beach (definitely recommend), stunning beaches nearby with cafes, small supermarkets etc. We definitely needed a car to visit places and stock up on supplies. Loved the really friendly local little shop/cafe/bar a five minute walk away. A wonderful relaxing week, and a really special part of Spain. i’d love to come back."

The house has got a lot of character and has all the amenities you need for your holiday in this beautiful part of Spain. It is very tastefully furnished and we loved the big bold paintings filling the walls. The garden is huge and the pool very well maintained, with a large pool 'room' where you can relax in the shade or use the sauna! Our daughters enjoyed early morning walks in area behind the house, finding great views from the top! There is also a friendly shop and cafe at the bottom of the hill which we enjoyed most days. There were 8 of us in our party and there was plenty of space for everyone! The booking process with Rustical Travel was so easy and the service was excellent. Monica and Amalio who were the representatives for the villa were brilliant and kept in touch with us throughout our stay - they were super helpful! Amalio met us at when we arrived at the villa and could not have given us a warmer, friendlier welcome. He showed us around and gave us tips on where to eat, thelocal beaches and general useful information. The area is totally unspoilt. We only wished that we had spent longer there as we would have loved to explore the hinterland - next time! Thank you to Rustical and especially Amalio who was exceptional and ensured we had a wonderful stay!"

+ Read moreLovely spacious villa with a large pool in beautiful surroundings, close to a spectacular beach. The stairs outside the master bedroom are irregular and the landing outside the bedroom is minute so would not suit anyone with mobility issues. Other than we would thoroughly recommend the property."
+ Read moreLoved the enclosed yard for the dogs to play in. Loved the sunrises. Loved the fireplace and Angel's services. Would be good to let people know, however, that there is no hot water in the kitchen sink or the washing machine."
