Overview

Sometimes the best things in life are sweet and simple and when we stumbled upon this unspoilt little mountain house sitting in a pretty green area of Northern Spain, we knew that this would be an ideal spot to stay for our beloved customers seeking an inexpensive base off the beaten track.

Asturias is considered one of Spain’s best kept secrets with its lush green valleys, snowcapped peaks, bottled ciders and cozy bright colorful fishing towns.

This pretty little house is only five minutes’ drive from the traditional market town of Infiesto and boasts a local tapas bar practically on its doorstep. Right opposite the charming little house, you can also see the first folds of the mountains that make up the Ponga National Park.

The garden boasts its own south facing furnished porch for enjoying an afternoon sangria in your own private space with views out into the rising hills.

Beyond the fenced in garden, which seems perfectly safe for small children, the property’s land seems to stretch to include some patchwork fields complete with grazing sheep.

Inside, the house is bright and simple and a great chance to take a break from the modern world.

Exposed beams, a flickering log fire, and comfortable furnishings lay the foundations for a lovely base for exploring the beautiful surrounding areas.

The house is detached and the village tranquil, you can enjoy an uninterrupted stay.

The property owner, a local florist, lives 10 minutes walk away and is always on hand should you need some help or advice during your stay.

The house may be charming, but it’s the surroundings that truly steal the show. With hundreds of walks close by, keen hikers should be sure to plan.

The Picos de Europa is only a forty-minute drive and is considered the alps of Spain with its rocky ridges and soaring peaks.

Sandy beaches and warm seas can also be found the same distance away, along with Woody Allen’s favorite historic town of Oviedo with its compact elegance and splash of sophistication.

For those who want to stay local - taking doorstep walks, dining on tapas, and indulging in the local cider culture, then we have plenty of ideas to keep you entertained in the local area guide.

If you are after an authentic home stay, this would be it. Very comfortable, very peaceful. Day trips by either car or train took us to many interesting places. We especially enjoyed our walks around Belconio."

Mercedes and Paco who met us and looked after us, in the absence of the owner, were excellent.. Many thanks to them. The house was adequate. The small garden needed some attention i.e. grass cutting. The local bar run by Maria was great, we ate there twice.. The area is good for walking cycling, and canoeing. Mercedes told of some beaches, which were peaceful and beautiful, and a good costal restaurant. If you want a quiet holiday away from it all this area is the place to go.."

Beautiful location with wonderful views. A great bar where all the locals drink down the lane, very friendly cheap. The house was clean with comfortable beds, plenty of towels lovely hot water. The house was very Spanish, clean well maintained. The owner Maria was very helpful and spoke English. Lots of literature in the house for information on places, maps to visit"

This property is accurately described but the sunny photos of the living room suggest a light house. It is in fact a dark house, which is to be expected in a country like Spain. We needed to have the lights on during the daytime when we stayed at home. After our initial disappointment, we discovered that is it an authentic rustic house that is tastefully furnished and decorated. The owner, her daughter and friends went out of their way to make us welcome"

We have had a wonderful time in Asturias. We found several different beaches that we loved, what a great coast (Vega, Espasa, Cuevas del mar, Barro, Toro, to name a few). Enjoyed the fishing villages of Llastres and Cudillero. But most of all Beloncio, the sheep, lizards, cats and the mole under the astroturf. Thank you Maria for looking after us especially when we arrived on Asturias day!!!"

We have had a fabulous 2 weeks in this gorgeous little Spanish retreat - we have loved it so much that we are staying an extra week here in Beloncio. Thank you to Maria, Carmen and of course, Mercedes, for all your help and information. All the best."
