Overview
Hours of handicraft has gone into creating this magical little wooden cottage set in a sprawling organic homestead in the shady woodlands of Girona.
We visited in June 2017, just as the finishing touches had been added to this cozy and unique home tucked away privately in a larger estate.
The cottage is not only beautiful, but the level of thought and work that has gone into the creation is truly inspiring.
From the double-glazed windows to the grassy garden roof – everything has been designed to keep the place warm and comfortable throughout the four seasons.
Inside, the hobbit like home is a vision of handcrafted details. The woodwork has been carved from everything from oak to acacia, pine, chestnut and even cedar – bringing a rich earthy scent to the whole place.
The open plan kitchen and dining area is well presented and flooded with natural warmth and the bedrooms boast good solid beds for a tranquil night’s sleep.
The small touches like the artisan lamps made by the property owner are a great reminder that you are far from a cookie cutter hotel.
Being in the woods is all about the outside space, and this charming little cottage doesn’t disappoint.
Around your cottage you will find shady nooks from the trees, a fence to mark out your grounds, and a pretty pool with parasols to share with the other two apartments rented out on the farm. You can see these other two apartments on the farmstead on our site with web ref. CA12(1) and ref. CA12 (2)
There is also a lovely al fresco dining space for homecooked suppers and wine in the woods. As the property is enclosed with its own boundary fence, children can run free without the worry.
The organic farm ran by Ernest and Lluisa delivers a true taste of Catalonian rural tourism, from the clear cold-water stream passing by your bedroom window to being able to buy fresh farm produce straight from the source to cook back at your own cottage.
Being so close to Montseny makes the farm a fabulous choice for keen hikers looking to explore the natural wonders of North-east Spain.
Here, the climate is wild and mixed with the salt breeze that blows in from the beaches of the Costa Brava only 30 minutes away. Couples and small families seeking a healthy, happy organic holiday in the sweet Mediterranean are sure to fall in love with this special spot.

In open countryside by a valley, accessed by a good 1.2 km track, 4 km to Arbuciés village (most facilities).

The grounds are huge and there is a little stream, horses, dogs, sheep, cats and lots of beautiful farmland right in front of your doorstep. The house has all you need, you feel that a lot of thoughts have gone into the equipment as you find all sorts of useful stuff in the kitchen as well as little things like blinds on the windows, a washing mashine and room to dry your clothes. It has a bbq outside and an oven in the living room-all equiped with fire wood and everything you might need. Lluisa and Ernest are friendly and helpful hosts. One thing is that the bedsofa in the livingroom is not very comfy to sleep on. It might be ok for a child or one adult. The bed in the bedroom has a normal matress and is very comfortable. We found our stay very relaxing and will possibly be back."
