Overview

At this charming property, you will find the Mediterranean’s most stunning scenery right in your own backyard.

The surrounding mountains, exotic fir forests and wild swimming spots make it a remarkable off the beaten track location for nature lovers.

Those staying at this traditional farmhouse won’t feel the need to leave as the property boasts beautiful outside space and a well-equipped home with lots of thoughtful touches.

Even on the 40-minute winding drive from the warm Costa del Sol beaches to the Finca, guests are treated to scenic views of blue waters and thick forests.

The house itself is simple and attractive, with white washed walls and plenty of natural exposed wood, a log burner, and a new pretty kitchen with a kick of Spanish flair.

You can sip coffee at the breakfast table overlooking the lush greenery outside, dine with the doors flung open to the terrace, or sit out on the gorgeous front terrace beneath vine trellises and palms.

The first-floor bedroom offers AC for the hottest days and the ensuite room is bright and airy with beautiful views.

Next door to the main two bed house is a small one bed casita annex – a great option for families with older teens or traveling friends who each want their own space. The annex even boasts its own kitchenette, bathroom, and cozy living space that opens up to the gardens.

The most remarkable thing about this property must be its wealth of outdoor spaces. Everywhere you look there is a patio, sun lounger or al fresco space.

The property managers live to the rear of your holiday home, separated by back gardens and facing away. They live courteously apart, professionally conscious of the importance of guests’ right to privacy.

Around 30m away from the house there is also a very generous patio and a pool large enough for swimming laps, with glorious views out across the lush valley. Shady spots beneath the pergola are ideal for a late poolside lunch.

We think this area is a true highlight of Andalucía and this property delivers a great base in the heart of nature to enjoy the stunning surroundings which remain unspoilt by tourism.

Days at this property are best spent hiking the surrounding area, picking figs and oranges fresh from the trees, swimming, reading and relaxing in the garden, and admiring flaming sunsets from one of the many terraces.

In the evening, you can take the 5 km drive to Genalguacil Village to sip wine with the locals. Genalguacil village is an artistic Andalusian village, full of Moorish charm and murals.

Happy holidays!

Gretchen | July | 2023

We loved the villa and our hosts were extremely helpful . We enjoyed exploring the area and spent a day at beach. We did long walks , including an amazing walk ( sometimes bathing )down the Genal river and swimming in the Charco Azul. All the facilities in the vila were exemplary and the pool was fabulous to swim in, especially first thing in the morning... the ideal way to start the day."

Really amazing property in such a beautiful location. Great facilities inside the buildings, lovely outside areas to relax, including the super pool. The property owners were so friendly and always on hand to offer recommendations if needed. Excellent wildlife around too (but not inside the property don’t worry!)"

This was truly a little paradise! We only stayed for 4 days but would have loved to stay much longer. The house was clean, very pretty and had everything you need. But especially the garden/ground surrounding the house is amazing, there is so much space and it is so quiet and calm. You can take fresh fruits from the trees! We came with our (big) dog who had the best time as well, being able to explore the surroundings and best of all, there was a private entrance for a hike through the forest and down to the river. The owners were super friendly and helpful. The place is quite remote, so if you are looking for a beautiful relaxing place to enjoy the nature this place is a big recommendation!"

We had a fantastic holiday on the property: ‘Aldea de la Higuera’. It’s a marvelous place: the different terraces offer terrific mountain views on the natural and green landscape. Thanks to the different terraces you can find the shadow you need. The place is really quiet. Also for birdwatchers this place offers a lot: almost everyday visit of the booted eagle, further more: short-toe eagle, sparrow hawk, bea-eaters, different kinds of swallows, etc. The property is big and full of fruit trees with fresh fruits to catch (figs, avocado, lemon, …). You can walk straight down to the river from the property. The house is well-equipped, very cosy (with nice, esthetic touches) and comfortable, there is also a gas bbq on the main terrace. The pool is big (10 meters) and clean, well maintained and offers a great view on the landscape. Richard and Anne are very friendly, helpful (we got a lot of information about the region) and discrete. Genalguacil is a lovely, charming art village where you can find a little grocery for the basic stuff, a restaurant with local meals and a tapas bar. For shopping you have to go to Gaucin or Estepona. We chose to go to Estepona and combined it with a beach visit. Ronda is also worth visiting and realistic to do in a day trip. You can start different kind of hiking trails in the neighborhood. There ’s also, 15 min driving bij car, a nice spot to refresh at the foot of a lovely waterfall. We had a lovely holiday and like to thank Anne, Richard and Rustical travel."

We had a wonderfully relaxing holiday. The house and extensive grounds are very well maintained and the owners, having ived there while restoring the property, are knowledgeable and friendly but discreet. We stayed for two weeks, with friends visiting for part of each week. We made use of the welcome hamper just in case but did stop in Estepona to shop -and recommend doing that.Usually we shop locally but found we did go back to Mercadona. We did some hiking, a very little tourism,a couple of lunches in Gaucin(book ahead for Platero ) but mainly sitting around reading on the various terraces, picking figs from the entwined tree, and swimming in the wonderful pool.Thoughtful arrangements-always shade. We didn't eat out at all in the evening which wouldn't always suit us but this year, and with visiting friends, this was the ideal holiday. I find Rustical Travel efficient, quick to respond and friendly.Every holiday I have booked through them has gone well but this has been the best !"

We were more than satisfied with our stay in this lovely villa. The position and views are outstanding . The pool is a fantastic size and the hosts are friendly and informative and although on site do not encroach on your space or privacy . The villa and all areas are well maintained ,fully equipped and spotlessly clean . The trees , flowers and shrubs are mature and thoughtfully planted . It is a little remote ,( shop before arrival ) . but we loved it and would happily return ."

This was one of those few occasions in life when you immediately know you have made the right choice. this place exceeded all our expectations. the key features for us: -amazing views 360 degrees that change with the time of day -super quiet (so will not suit all) -Very friendly but restrained hosts -Extensive outdoor areas equipped with beds cushions etc. -All the equipment was in good working order -the gas barbecue was very convenient -Richard's eye for detail on all parts of the house were a pleasure to use -WIFI in all areas, including by the pool next time I am hiring a bike to attack those hills"

The villa RD99 created a lovely holiday for my 2 children and myself. A very high-spec property and well located between Estepona and Ronda. Great roads too. Ronda was beautiful at twilight. The villa was very comfortable and well equipped and situated in a green valley. Lots of fruit trees, a stunning waterfall just 15minutes drive from the villa was our highlight. The perfect place to take a picnic and swim, climb or walk.A lot of thought and care has gone into making the property welcoming and restful. It was peaceful and fairly private. It wasn't clear that the owners villa was attached to the rental property, or that they have dogs. My son was delighted there were dogs which were adorable and did not bark at all.I would recommend a full supermarket shop in Estepona before arriving at the villa because the local villages have very little.A very happy holiday, lovely owners. Thank you."
