Overview

An archway invites you to go up four steps to a comfy, light-filled living room lined with interesting books. Books and steps are a theme of this property, making it an interesting prospect for those who like to explore…

French windows open to a beautiful covered patio, furnished with very comfortable armchairs and sofas and a broad table. It’s semi-enclosed, open to the view, the kind of place you could spend hours, enjoying meals, reading, sipping cold drinks. There’s an extra fridge here with that in mind.

Internal stairs and external steps lead to four bedrooms and the pool area and gardens.

The highest double bedroom is a spacious attic room with its own small sitting room, and is reached up steepish wooden steps. The view from here is simply superb.

The lowest double room, the freshest in the hot summer, has its own external entrance and is right by the pool area.

The swimming pool is delicious, with steps down into an avocado shaped interior, into which water trickles musically. There’s a secluded corner with sunloungers for lazy hours. It’s all ensconced within gardens that are fragrant with jasmine and honeysuckle, decorated with bougainvillea and planted with plum and almond trees, palm and pomegranate.

The pool is maintained year-round at this very warm, south-facing Ronda location, but not heated, so we wouldn't recommend winter swims. But when we were there in late October, the weather was still very warm.

Winter bookings are otherwise definitely suitable here. The house is well-heated, with panel radiators in all bedrooms and wood stoves.

There are plenty of good opportunities for eating out both in Montecorto and nearby villages and we’ll send you our recommendations, along with a host of holiday ideas, as one of your holiday documents.

Rambling the Natural Park of the Sierra de Grazalema is an immediate attraction and there are a host of other routes. The owner is a professional author of walking guides and his books will be available for your use while on holiday: a real bonus.

Other activities are offered by the turquoise lake of El Gastor-Zahara, just down the road for canoeing or paddle boats, while paragliding and horseriding are both possible locally.

The Virgen del Carmen local fiestas in Montecorto normally take place around the 16th of July; if you stay at the property during those dates you will be able to enjoy plenty of events, music, dance and shows in the village, especially during the Friday and Saturday.

Ronda, one of Andalucia's star turns, is only 20 minutes away along a good road, and Sevilla, Jerez, Cádiz and Granada are all day trip options.

Judith | April | 2019

We just stayed here with our five teens in mid April. The setting and the house itself are beyond stunning. Not only would we rent it all over again but would consider coming here every year if we could. Paqui, the housekeeper, was an added bonus. Amazing place and area."

We found this property to be an oasis. Absolutely wonderful house and garden. What a view sitting at the picnic table! Everything we needed was there, and how spoilt to be able to ask Paqui to kindly cook one of her dishes from time to time. Montecorto is unspoilt and not at all touristy, something we were glad of. If we were to make any criticism at all it would be that the appliances are a little dated. Not that this detracted from what was an idyllic holiday."

This was a perfect location for a family get together. We loved the villa itself with the great views of the countryside. The conversion from the old buildings to the current house was tastefully done, keeping much of the original to give a great atmosphere but with enough modernisation to make living very comfortable. The location in Montecorto was ideal for us as we very much enjoyed being in a genuine village with bar and shops within easy walking distance but also close enough to Ronda and some of the white towns to make for good day visits. We have holidayed in many villas in Spain over the last twenty years but we all felt this was one of our favourites. We hope to be back again one day."

We had a fantastic holiday at property RD28. On arrival we had a note from the owner welcoming us and giving his contact number should we need any help and also a delicious bottle of wine which was a very thoughtful. The house was amazing, clean and comfortable with everything we needed. The pool area was good with plenty of sun beds and parasols. The views from the property are beautiful. The location of the property was ideal with an easy stroll into the delightful village of Montecorto to buy any supplies needed or to have a drink or meal. Pacqui who came in to clean every day was very helpful and despite our lack of any Spanish we managed to communicate and she quickly sorted out the problem that occurred when the water was cut off. Rustical Travel were a very easy company to book with and I would definitely recommend both the agent and the property."

Judith | August | 2015

Lovely house in a good location. Happy with everything. The only thing I would mention is that the steps within the house and outside are huge and plentiful! We are all fit and able bodied but even we found them challenging. I think it's probably unsuitable for young children under say the age of 8 and certainly for older people. Otherwise all good.
