Overview
We were so excited to discover this wonderful retreat between the Ronda mountains and the Mediterranean Sea. Why? Basically, we felt that this house is a “sure thing!”
Every detail, from the pretty village of Gaucin (1.5 km walk) to the relaxing chill-out sofas around the totally private pool, we found just perfect! So, let’s go!
Gently wind your way up through the ancient olive trees and the tangled bushes of the Ronda mountains to where your stunning holiday retreat welcomes you.
Once you are rolling over comforting stone cobbles, and you spy some magnificent old wooden doors, you know you have arrived at your magical holiday villa.
Whilst nestling privately in the exotic countryside of Andalucía, this enchanting house with its expansive terraces, enjoys idyllic and unspoilt views from almost every corner.
The view of Gibraltar is so special whilst crystal clear days will reward you with the silhouette of Morocco.
We believe that you will feel that this is not just a holiday “house”, what struck us most was that this is, in the true sense of the word a holiday “home”!
With its array of unique and original cushions, rugs, paintings and a variety of books, this feels like a home. Yet the high ceilings, exquisite furnishings and ample space inside and outside offer you a grand and attractive villa.
The house is arranged on two floors and, very stylishly, the first floor forms a gallery around the ground floor. We especially loved the little balconies, providing rooms with views. Although there is no air conditioning, there are ceiling fans throughout the house and the villa is well equipped. Being built in 2008, the house has been carefully planned and enjoys a very zen layout.
No doubt, the various jewels of the Ronda mountains world will beckon you, but we suspect that the beautifully furnished terraces, the refreshing, shimmering pool, the relaxing sunbeds and the
pretty flowers, trees and shaded enclaves will equally entice you to stay and lap up the comfort of your Andalusian holiday home.
Location
In the early folds of the Ronda mountains, overlooking the Mediterranean sea.
Accessed by rural track of approx. 500 metres from the main road the leads to Gaucín. The track is not long and only slightly steep at the end. The property is approx. 1.5 kms away from Gaucin village so about 20 minutes walk.

There is a resident cat and it may occasionally walk into the property. People with an allergy may need to be aware of this

The swimming pool is open all seasons.

The usual swimming season in this region is from the beginning of May to the end of September.

Additional obligatory costs (facilities) not included, payable locally:

- During winter bookings, there is an extra charge of €290 per week for central heating (6 hrs morning, 6 hrs evening) and two large baskets of firewood, which should be sufficient for a week. This charge is to be paid for locally.

Check-in time: from 17:00h to 22:00h; Check-out time: 10:00h

When the entire property is booked at the small party rate "3 bedrooms: sleeps up to 6 people", the Casita annexe remains closed and unused.

A refundable security deposit of 580 euros is applicable to all bookings. Prior to your arrival you will have to order a bank transfer to the service supplier subject to deductions for breakages, damage, unpaid bills (when applicable) and extraordinary cleaning.

Feels very civilised yet remote and isolated. Some things getting a tad old such as the oven and dishwasher and could do with more sharp knives and large cups (for tea!). The black figurines could cause offence to some visitors. We had a wonderful family holiday"
Rustical Update
We followed up on this feedback to hear comments from the owner in case they were any plans to make improvements. We simply copy and paste the owners reply: -The oven and dishwasher are fairly new and working well, so I don’t intend to replace them.
The knives are sharp with a knife sharpener in the drawer.
The large white coffee/tea cups are the largest you can buy in Ikea and hold half a litre-.
Booking service was excellent. Easy to walk to Gaucin Good supermarket in Gaucin but no fresh fish. Apparently a mobile fish shop visits twice a week but we were told we had to go to a big supermarket on the coast. The only other issue was the lack of air conditioning as it was mid to late 30s Gaucin is not touristy at all, not much English spoken. Restaurants must be booked for a table outside in the summer. Very peaceful environment with lovely facilities for relaxing and enjoying the magnificent views"

+ Read moreThis is the second time I have rented with Rustical Travel and am very happy with their service. This property was stunning. The views of Gibraltar and Africa were absolutely breathtaking. The house is gorgeous and beautifully outfitted and we enjoyed the pool immensely. The Town of Gaucin was very charming and we were delighted with all of the restaurant experiences. We could easily walk to and from town which is a great bonus. While I have been to Spain many times, I have never been to this area. You can explore a medieval town or enjoy beautiful beaches, it really has everything. I can't wait to come back."
