Overview

Light and airy, a symphony in whites, this is the glamourous side of Gaucin. The south facing apartment gives you plenty of modernist comfort in this popular Ronda mountain village.

The views are far and wide, due south to the Rock of Gibraltar and beyond, as far as the Rif Mountains over the sea in Morocco. Below is a sparkling, slightly shared pool and 30 minutes away lies the Mediterranean at the end of a snaking country road.

It is one of just six ritzily designed holiday apartments occupying a small and discretely exclusive new building.

A colour scheme of shading creams and whites is faithfully observed throughout the modish accommodation.

The apartment is spacious and well appointed, light and relaxing.

Floor to ceiling double-glazed French windows let light in to flood the living space and they slide open to a furnished terrace where sunloungers are an open invitation to serious repose.

From here the view ranges round Gaucin’s Eagle Castle on the left past palm trees and over the village and the tree-lined valley.

Gaucin’s not that big so restaurants are always within walking distance.

The two bedrooms are located on the lower floor are, they are good sized with en suite facilities but the master bedroom is clearly superior.

An external rear staircase takes you down to a stepped, chlorine-free swimming pool set around with sunloungers. Its use is shared with the other apartments in the private building, although on our visits we didn’t see any other residents down there. There is also a shower and WC.

It’s nice walking round the village, which has recently adopted salamanders as a decorative emblem on façades, enjoying coffee at a café terrace, bougainvillea and jasmine, and views over the countryside.

Gaucin is a perennial favourite for good reason, attractive and well located for day trips to Ronda, Gibraltar, villages like Jimena or Genalguacil, and Mediterranean beaches.

There is some good trekking in the area. If you decide to come, before you start your holidays we’ll send you details on how to enjoy this region.

Nice Apartments and everything was clean. The only thing we were missing is a BBQ grill on the terrace."

We really enjoyed our week at this beautiful apartment in Gaucin! We were two adults with 2 toddlers and the apartment was perfect for us! It is a big apartment with a beautiful view! The village of Gaucin is a pretty little village and there are plenty of small villages to explore around. We would recommend this apartment without any hesitation."

Beautiful property in a wonderful location. The views from the terrace are fabulous and the apartment is well-equipped with everything you could need. The pool was great too - we stayed for a week and had the pool to ourselves for all but a couple of hours one morning. Booking was easy, and the information we received prior to our holiday was the most thorough we have ever had. Would thoroughly recommend."

Nicola | May | 2018

The apartment was lovely and had everything we needed. The view was stunning and the location in the village was perfect. The pool would have been great if the weather had been better; great size, plenty of sun loungers, easy access, pretty lavender. We did use it though despite the weather but had to clean out the insects and leaves every day with the net we found. We loved the local deli which is just down the road; great for homemade lunches and fresh bread/croissants. The local restaurants were a bit hit and miss and we were surprised by the lack of really good Tapas bars which we were looking forward to. The restaurants were either high end and pricey or just not very good. Ironically we have better Tapas restaurants in London. However, Gaucin is very pretty and has a lovely charm. We also found it very easy to get to the coast which was great. If I had to make one bad comment about the apartment it is that the double mattress was rather lumpy and uncomfortable and the pillows were terrible; completely flat and very poor quality. Odd when the rest of the apartment is great. We would definitely go back to that apartment though if we ever back back to Gaucin. We had a really enjoyable week."

Rustical Update

We have informed the property manager about the mattress and pillows; she said she will replace the pillows, and will see if  themattress also needs to be replaced.
