Overview

When we first visited this villa 10 years ago, the house was so new that it hadn't really settled in and the gardens were still bare. We decided to wait and see how it stood the test of time.

We're glad we went back in late 2014: the gardens and its trees have matured and the villa, while remaining simple and modest, has improved to the point where we're pleased to select it as one of our private Andalucia properties.

It's a simple, satisfactory, but not luxury, rural villa with some nice traditional rustic touches.

By providing all you need for self-catering holidays without costly comforts, it manages to come in at the kind of price that a couple coming on their own might easily afford.

With its two bedrooms and two bathrooms, it can sleep two couples or a small family. The property is quite safe for children, especially when you take into the account that the swimming pool can be gated at the top of the steps.

The living and dining and kitchen accommodation is open plan on the ground floor.

The two bedrooms –a double and a twin– are upstairs. The double bedroom has its own terrace. The chairs may be plastic, but the main thing is that view: rolling Andalucia hills and the Montes de Malaga beyond. There's a bathroom on each floor.

At this villa you have plenty of outdoor space and privacy.

To one side of the house, the porch patio is a favourite spot for dining and the brick-built barbecue here is a enjoyable alternative to the very adequately equipped kitchen.

To the rear, steps lead down to a private swimming pool. There's room for sunloungers and a sun umbrella. Again, the views are panoramic.

The property is reached along a paved road and a short track and a normal car is all you need. There’s private parking inside the gates but they only open as far as you see in the photo, so we wouldn’t advise a large or wide vehicle.

The fountain you see outside works and can be switched on and off from the house. There is also night lighting to indicate the way to the pool at night.

From the villa, it's just 7 minutes to Casabermeja for shopping and other needs. There’s a particularly excellent fish restaurant in town that we always recommend – and go to ourselves, whenever we're in the area.

In half an hour, you can be in Malaga for the beaches and beach restaurants. And the same distance brings you to Torcal Natural Park for some magical walks.

If you fancy a day trip to Granada, it's definitely within range these days thanks to the new motorway link: you can be in the famed city of the Alhambra in an hour and a quarter.

YOUR REVIEWS

Julie | September | 2016

My husband and I together with our two friends, had a very relaxing holiday here at the villa. The setting on a hillside overlooking the valley was extremely tranquil... the people in the local town were very friendly and helpful. The things we most enjoyed were being able to eat outside on the terrace and to chill-out with our music by the pool. Also on arrival only two of the sunbeds were usable and we requested two more, which I am pleased to say arrived the next evening. The only things which could be improved upon are as follows: We are all foodies and were looking forward to cooking at the villa. We did so every night, which was great, however, we were a little hampered by the lack of kitchen equipment...four mismatched wine glasses, an old oven and one fridge. (the other one made a strange noise so we didn't use it!) also we only had two teacups and two coffee mugs and a strange array of crockery, pots and pans. You may think I am being pedantic on this, but as we would have had to drive everywhere to eat out, the kitchen and its contents were to us, pretty important. Last of all, better quality towels in the bathrooms would not go amiss! Simple things to fix, but it's the little things that all count to making what was a very good holiday, a great one!"

A fantastic peaceful property. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here in the mountains, where we were far enough away from civilization to completely switch off and relax, but close enough to find plenty of good eateries and activities. The property itself was self contained and private, offering everything that we needed. We would certainly consider returning."
