Booking information for AX31

  • The 500 metre access track to the property is bumpy and steep in places, but suitable for any car with reasonably high clearance (not low-slung sports cars).

  • The swimming pool is open all seasons.

  • The usual swimming season in this region is from the beginning of May to the beginning of October.

  • Optional costs not included (facilities), payable locally:

    • Underfloor heating is available from 1st October to 15th April, and has an additional cost of 30 euros per week (this sum is payable locally on arrival).

  • Check-in time: from 16:00h to 22:00h; Check-out time: 10:00h

  • Pets may be permitted on previous request. Special restrictions normally apply. Please ask us.

  • A refundable security deposit of 150 euros applies to this property. This sum is payable to the keyholder on arrival (in cash) and subject to deductions for breakages/damages, unpaid local charges (when applicable) or exceptional cleaning.

Overview

This modest home seems perfectly placed in the semi tropical, sweet and balmy microclimate of Axarquia region.

This is rural Spain at her finest; a place where the sun scorches grapes to raisins, where mangoes grow fat, and where the pool season seems to last forever.

The surrounding mountains protect the villa from prevailing winds, the valley simmers in long summer heat, and the nearby Mediterranean Sea sends a cooling breeze making for pleasant temperatures throughout the year.

With all that sunshine, you will be glad to enjoy the bright property’s outdoor space.

A garden terrace and al fresco dining space ensures lingering breakfasts with valley views, a gated swimming pool sitting above the house is a welcome sight on warm afternoons, and the sunny roof terrace with portable barbeque whispers of sizzling starlight suppers.

The hidden village of Cutar is only a kilometer from your door.

Inside the home, you can relish a bright and beautifully rustic feel.

With fields of tropical fruits outside your window you can buy all your produce locally, including some glorious glowing wines, or head into the pretty village of Benamargosa.

Those who wish to venture further afield can also find the magical beaches of the Costa del Sol only 20 km away, along with the otherworldly visions of the El Torcal National Park and Granada’s Alhambra Palace a couple of hours’ drive.

Axarquia region. 20 kms away from Costa del Sol in a semi tropical area where growing mango, custard apples and avocados is the main local activity. La Maroma mountain (2,500 metre high) dominates this fertile valley.

Location

1.2 kms away from the village of Cutar. The access to the property is via rural track of approx. 500 metres, short and steepish in places with some bumps but negotiable with an ordinary car (large vehicles should be avoided).

We really enjoyed our time at the villa-we were there in March and had storms and rain but a few sunny days too. We lit the woodburner and were very cosy. Cutar nearby is beautiful, Benamargosa not so lovely but does have a supermarket and other facilities. Antonio, our host was very welcoming and relaxed...we ate oranges from the trees in the garden. Just beware the track down to the villa which is steep and bumpy but once you are there it is great."
