Sinopsis

Very good location for exploring the Picos de Europas and the coast, excellent south facing views from the balcony looking over the mountains, clean and comfortable cottage, owners friendly. As there is no internet a DVD player would be a good idea as an alternative to reading after a hard days sightseeing. We would stay here again."

Cosy little cottage with fantastic views of the Picos and a nice little garden. Well located in a pretty little village 10 mins from Potes with all its amentities. Kitchen is a little small but the views more than make up for this!"

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We loved the rural setting in this peaceful village with splendid views of the mountains. The charming cottage was tastefully furnished with everything we needed. The very attractive town of Potes about 15 minutes from Trillayo has many shops and restaurants. Many good walks and places to visit."

This house is in a very beautiful location and was very well-situated for walking, which we did almost every day. The owners were friendly and helpful, and we appreciated the wine and gifts of fruit and tomatoes. The kitchen was tiny but well equipped. We made use of the pretty garden and the balcony - from which we could watch the sun set over the stunning mountains - and for the three of us the small living space was just fine. We actually liked the lack of internet access, which meant that we played cards or read books in the evenings. My only criticism of the house would be the double bed; it is quite small and shoehorned into the smallest room. I would suggest putting a slightly larger double bed into the larger room, and then just having a single bed in the small bedroom. You already advise that this house is only suitable for a couple, perhaps with one child, and so it’s more important to have a larger and more comfortable double in a decent size room than to provide two single bed. If this was done we would definitely return to the property, as we thought the house was perfect for a very relaxed, quiet holiday, which was what we were looking for."

Rustical Update

The property manager informed us that currently the house is being refurbished and undergoing many changes; one of them is regarding the distribution of the beds. The double bed is now in the larger bedroom.

We stayed here for two weeks in September. The cottage was wonderful, and ideal for a couple, it is rustic and cosy, just as described on the website. There is a wonderful balcony/veranda with beautiful views of the Picos, and we spent many an evening enjoying the views, and watching the housemartins flitting in and out of their nests. The village of Trillayo is very small, and the locals were quietly friendly. This is a very peaceful location, ideal for getting away from it all, but close enough to local amenities (supermarkets, restaurants, bars), with Potes the local town being only a 10 minute drive away. Potes, itself if a very popular tourist destination, and does get quite busy, especially on market day (Mondays). There are a wealth of excellent walks within this region that can be reached from Trillayo, and a many other exciting activities in the surrounding area. The Picos visitors centre at the end of the road is also well worth a visit. The owners of the cottage live next door, and were extremely friendly and considerate. They gave us a beautiful bottle of homemade wine, and tomatoes, grown in their garden. We really enjoyed our stay and are fully intending to come back again soon. Rusitcal travel were also excellent, very helpful and efficient, and provided a large amount of helpful information prior to arrival. All in all, an excellent holiday!"

We absolutely loved our stay in AC17. The cottage was perfect for us. We loved listening to the sound of cow bells in the evening and the cries of the resident House Martins. The owner was incredibly friendly, we sampled the home grown nectarines and wine. Excellent walks from the door and the beautiful town of Potes only 5km away. We would definitely come back. Rustical Travel are amazing, great communication and very helpful. Thank you so much!"

Idyllic setting with lovely views. Very characterful cottage. Enjoyable stay, everything we wanted in the cottage, my only minor niggle is that I would have liked a softer pillow. We enjoyed quite a bit of our time sitting on the garden or on the balcony gazing at the mountains and watching as the family of swallows fledged from the nest above the car parking space. Family were friendly and information provided by holiday company was excellent and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay."

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at in Trillayo. Our hosts were very welcoming and helpful at every turn. They treated us to a bottle of their red wine made from the grapes growing in the garden as well as a delicious, super-sized tomato and recommended a superb Pena Sagra restaurant in the nearby Cachelo. The cottage itself is charming and cosy with all the mod cons and a balcony with fabulous views of the Picos. The garden smells of its peach-laden trees. All in all a fantastic spot and the ideal base from which to explore the Picos de Europa, including the must visit Fuente De. Potes, a ten minute drive away offers the opportunity to stock up on provisions or take advantage of the sumptuous day menus at the various restaurants - 3 courses, wine, cider (local delicacy) or water all for €11-13. Our 5 year daughter delighted in paddling in the cool waters of the river Deva that runs through it. This is a real gem which we hope to return to."

First of all we are very happy with the staff of the rustical travel agency. The communication was very fast, clear and helpfull. And when we wanted to stay one day longer it was quickly arranged. We had a very good time in the house. The surroundings are beautifull and there is a lot to see and do. We also liked the town of Potes. The house was fine. We stayed there with 3 people. Because of the thick walls it stayed cool. If there would be a new frying pan everything is perfect."

Rustical Update

We have been confirmed by the property manager that the pans were replaced, and they regularly renovate the equipment if it gets broken or tired due to regular use.

We have just come back from Trillayo, Cantabria after staying in one of your properties. We wanted to say a BIG THANK YOU because we have had a wonderful holiday. We stayed in property AC17, your photos on your web site were amazing but when we got there the scenery and simple beauty of the house took our breath away. The owners were fabulous and between their limited English and our even more limited Spanish we got by, but everything in the property was perfectly organised so our questions were more curiosities about what we were experiencing (like what's the name of the horse living in the stable beneath our accommodation, why was the loud music playing from the van ~ it was the fish seller letting everyone know he was there, like an British ice-cream van). Your travel information was very useful to us and every step of the organisation simple and hassle free. Many thanks again from some very happy customers.

We stayed here in August 2015, so me my wife and our two kids. This was our first ever time to Northern Spain and first time using Rustical Travel, both impressed us and we are already thinking about returning next year. The cottage was exactly as we expected, with loads of rustic charm and the view from the balcony was superb. When the kids finally got to sleep each evening we enjoyed just sitting with a glass of vino tinto starring at the amazing view. The owner was lovely and spoke very little English which was great as I'm trying to learn Spanish anyway :) But to summarize we had a great time and would recommend both Northern Spain and Rustical travel. Almost forgot, one thing to improve the holiday for others could be a small map showing from the road as it enters the village and the route up to the cottage. The roads in the village are small and it was tricky to find, although that was all part of the fun. Thanks"

We had a lovely time at the Trillayo property. It is exactly as described and we were most comfortable during our weeks stay. It was wonderful having the views to wake up to and some amazing walks on our doorstep. We were very warmly welcomed by the owners and various members of the family, including a visiting son who was able to translate for us as our Spanish is not as good as it should be. At the end of our stay we were delighted to be given a bottle of wine by (we think) an aunt who said it was made using her own grapes. It you would be kind enough to pass on our thanks to the owners and the family and to say how much we enjoyed our stay and the gift of the lovely wine, we would be very grateful. We would highly recommend your company and hope to use your services again very soon."

We really loved our stay here and spent many happy & relaxing times enjoying lunch or dinner in the little garden and enjoying the amazing views of the mountains on the balcony over coffee, beer or wine. My two small children (5 and 8) enjoyed playing in the garden in the small paddling pool we had brought with us which was great on some of the really hot days. It's a small cottage but perfectly formed with a well equipped kitchen and cosy bedrooms. It's a quick drive (maybe 10 minutes if I remember right) to the lovely town of Potes for supermarket, restaurants etc - Rustical Travel recommendations were spot on. The village the cottage is in is very quiet (we slept in every morning!) and there is a lovely walk you can do straight from the house to the neighbouring villages which I would recommend. You've also got lots of day trip possibilities as it's so well located. Thank you Rustical Travel - another enjoyable holiday in Spain."

A wonderfully situated small rural property with stunning views of the eastern Picos de Europa. This 400 year old cottage has been sympathetically maintained to retain its authentic character whilst providing the modern facilities that you need for your holiday. The cottage felt private despite the friendly owners living next door and the village is quiet and peaceful at all times. Conveniently situated for visiting Potes and the neighbouring Picos attractions the cottage provides a perfect base for exploring further afield or just for relaxing and soaking in the views on the balcony or in the garden."

My wife and I stayed at property reference AC17 for one week. We simply wish to say that the property, both house and garden, and its location, were all absolutely wonderful, as were all of the people we met in the village, in particular, the lady I presume to be the owner. Our lack of Spanish meant that we could not pass on our proper appreciation to the owners when we left AC17 at the end of September. We also found your company extemely efficient with easy booking and very helpful directions and guides. Please let us know if you would like a further review for other potential guests."
