Sinopsis

Simply stunning location! Great property. We were group of 7 and the property was well equipped for us. The veranda and gardens were fabulous too. Pub at end of road served delicious food and use of swimming pool at campsite was a bonus too."

Fabulous property with views of the Picos that will take your breath away. No complaints whatsoever. An ideal location from which to explore the Picos with all you need either on your doorstep or a very short journey away. Extremely happy that we chose this Villa, and would recommend it without hesitation."

Hi We loved the property and really enjoyed our time there. It is very well located in a nice and quiet area (if you occasionally shout at the neighbours dog!). The facilities is very good and the house is well equipped. It is also very roomy with plenty of space - we also loved the outdoor area and used that extensively. Couple of negatives - the beds need to be replaced. Most of the beds and mattresses are in a poor condition and must be replaced. Some of the linen (particularly the towels which are threadbare) must be replaced. It will be nice to have access to the back area through the kitchen - very nice views - but we could not find keys for the kitchen door (maybe just missed it). Other than a major issue with beds and linen - the house was very nice and if we are in the area we will definitely use it again. The booking process was also very easy and it was a pleasure working with Rustical - I only wish you had more properties in other areas of Spain. We tried booking self-catering places in Navarre and Aragon but the options were very limited (maybe an opportunity for Rustical to find properties in these areas!) Regards Hercu"

Rustical Update

In July 2018 we are informed that the bed linen and towels were renewed, and also the mattresses for the bed in Bedroom 2 and the twin beds in Bedroom 1.

Pros Fantastic property, fantastic location. We were worried this property would be too big as it turned out it was perfect for a family of 5 we could really spread out and the children each had their own rooms, the free wi-fi was added bonus for our teenage sons as was the use of the pool at the nearby campsite for a few euros each. Best things we did here were as follows, Circular walk around valley not on roads from Villa to Lon with great lunch at Penas Arriba, dont be alarmed by big dogs barking in path they are just looking after sheep and goats, and can be passed quite safely. Evening meals in Potes mainly consisted of hearty Asturian stews. Picnic by the ancient chestnut forests of Pendes as suggested in your guide, and buying locally made cheese. Going up the Fuente De cable car then walking down on the 14km circular route, with amazing varied terrain and flora and fauna. Cons Nothing really just a few minor points. Quite a few light bulbs were not working particularly in the kitchen Toaster didn’t work Could do with an A4 folder containing info on property, with leaflets and ideas on what to see and do locally. Local tourist information offices are useless, they don’t display lots of leaflets for local attractions as you would find in a UK tourist office, so you need to know what you want to do and see before you go in, which is a bit difficult if you don’t know what is available! Garden wasn’t as private as expected as 3 sides were exposed due to low walls. It’s really a bit far for days at the beach as the road into Liebana is very windy and slow, you’re better off staying in the mountains and enjoying them. The Monday market in Potes was quite disappointing."

Rustical Update

We send local info on what to see and what to do. And, in our opinion, the trips to the beaches are worth it (if not on a daily basis), and so is the Monday market in Potes.

The Villa was a very impressive house with plenty of room. The balcony with hammocks had the most amazing view and makes the house quite unique. There was some confusion when we arrived as we were early and the lady at the Posada was unaware of our arrival and spoke no English which was interesting. We eventually got the key but would have been a nice touch if someone could have called around during the week to make sure we had found everything etc. It is very rural and was quite a surprise one day to come home to find cows in the field surrounding the house, shame about the cow bells! Saying that we loved how rural the area is. We enjoyed several walks - the track around Brez is to be recommended. We went on the cable car (although at the top it was snowing and we missed the view!), we visited the market and country show in Potes and enjoyed a meal at the Asador Llorente. We visited the El Soplao caves, and used the cross country route - it was a very long journey but the views were amazing and we enjoyed the caves, although there are no English tours. It is obviously an area enjoyed by the Spanish but we found very little spoken English so were heavily reliant on our dictionary! We visited the La Hermida Spa - around Euro 36 per person for a very enjoyable experience (swimming pool with lots of jacuzzi type features, open air natural spring and various saunas) although our visit was cut short as it shuts at 1pm for lunch (it would have been helpful to have known this before we set off!) Again we had a great lunch at the hotel. Eating out at night wasn't an option because the restaurants don't open till 8pm and it was too late for our daughter. All in all a very enjoyable week in a very different environment."

Rustical Update

We have updated our local information to include that the Spa in La Hermida closes for lunch. From May 2021 there are no longer hammocks in the terrace.

Great restaurants in Potes. The award winning butcher in Potes was brilliant as was the restaurant next door to him!Well equipped kitchen, with sufficient crockery, utensils and cutlery, great for the family that did all the cooking.Lots of garden furniture, good patio with tables and chairs for all, great for lazy lunches!Large comfy lounge with good seating for all.Lots of hot water, clean and good bedrooms, all very comfortable.Only one criticism, no cd layer or alternative music supply"

The house and setting were absolutely fantastic. We were nine people at one point and found that there was plenty of room for us all, there was plenty of crockery, cutlery etc, although the glasses were a bit of a mixture and could do with replenishing. Some more comfortable garden loungers would have been appreciated as they only supplied two! All in all I would very much recommend the above property as we thought the setting and views could not be beaten and we also found it good value. We would definitely go again."

Rustical Update

We have been confirmed by the property manager that they have replenished and renovated the glassware at the property.
In February 2020 we are informed that there are now at least 6 garden loungers.
