Sinopsis

Our stay in the wonderful villa in Colmenar exceeded all our expectations. The accommodation was superb - spacious and comfortable - and the pool and caves provided a whole week of fun for the children and teenagers in our party. We enjoyed the villa so much that we changed our plans and spent several days just relaxing ‘at home’ instead of the planned day trips to various cities nearby. Mari Carmen was a wonderful host - so helpful and kind, and she made our stay easy and stress free. Our only recommendation for the future is that it would be great to have some more comfortable outdoor furniture and a slightly better equipped kitchen - some sharp knives for cooking and a few larger pots and pans would be great. We would definitely return and have already recommended the villa to friends."

We had such a good time (9 girls celebrating a 50th). Villa was exceptional- very clean, spacious, beautiful decor and plenty of wine glasses and dishes! Each room had quiet and fully functioning aircon. Pool was kept clean and was very welcome in the 40c heat. Mari Carmen came each day and was very helpful and accommodating- we couldn’t speak much Spanish and her much English but we laughed a lot using Google translate! We did not have cars so got Ubers from airport (~60eur). We were in Spain for the MadCool music festival and got the local bus (top of street) #337 (5.15eur) to Conde de Casa (Madrid) which is also only a few metro stops from Sol (central Madrid). Takes an hour and bus is ~ 2x per hour. Local amenities- Colmenar de Oreja is a typical Spanish small town. Two local well stocked supermarkets, several bars/ coffee shops and we also ate at Restaurante El Casinillo and El Pallique- near / in Plaza Major. Really good food. Highly recommended this villa if you want something a bit different and happy to go local."

We've spent a whole week with the enlarged family and enjoyed the house and its surroundings a lot. The owners were super nice and had a lot of recommendations around the ongoing fiesta as well as great restaurants. They even helped us to book a table for a restaurant right at the Plaza Mayor on the balcony with view over the arena del torro. We enjoyed our time a lot and felt always very welcomed!"

This house was perfect for our family holiday of 11 adults and 2 children. The photos do not do it justice, this house is totally unique, the wonderful artwork displayed in each room was stunning. We loved being able to eat out in the patio and the pool was perfect. Great service from the housekeeper that visited daily. The pubelo of Colmenar had more than enough to keep us entertained if we wanted to venture out of the house, some lovely restaurants and bodegas to visit locally. This is our first booking with Rustical Travel but certainly will not be the last, wonderful communication with the booking staff making it a first class service."

The villa was wonderful! It was perfect for our group of 13. We enjoyed many meals outside in the patio area. The rooms were all lovely, the photos don’t do them justice! We loved exploring the town and had a couple of delicious meals there. Mari-Carmen was so welcoming and helpful to our group. Overall, we had a great vacation!"

We visited this villa on the 10th august 2018 for 1 week and were blown away by the property. It was fantastic ! there were people there to meet us and show us around even though we were over an hour late on arrival late evening. Everything was perfect and the people who came in everyday to clean couldn't have been more helpful and were always very pleasant. If Your looking for a relaxing holiday away from the hustle and bustle I would strongly recommend staying at this property."

We thoroughly enjoy our trip and thank you for being so helpful There are a couple of areas where you might want to take a look and see if anything can be done. These were not negatives on our part but may help improve the experience for others staying at the property - Kitchens - A bit of confusion for us. Not sure why two kitchens were needed. It would be better to have the dishwasher in the ground floor kitchen. We tended to eat in the courtyard so naturally the ground floor kitchen made the most sense - Air Con - This kept clicking and buzzing during the night. On our first night it buzzed in the early hours and I jumped out of bed, in a somewhat confused state, looking for the door entry phone! . The noise was identical to the buzz from the door entry system at our flat in London! We found Jose and the family delightful. If you could extend our thanks to them for their hospitality I would be grateful The two ladies Mari and Carmen were most entertaining and again made our stay most pleasurable I would hope that we might return in 2017 Many thanks and all the best Rupert"

Rustical Update

The property manager has been informed of the noises from the air conditioner and he will look at it to see if it needs reparing.

We stayed in this beautiful house for 2 weeks in August. We were a multi-generational party of 10 - aged from 70+ to 3 months! The house, garden and pool exceeded all our expectations and are far more beautiful and spacious than they look in the photos. The bedrooms, ensuite bathrooms and 2 sitting rooms are all stunning and the artwork, books and objets fabulous yet this is still a relaxing and comfortable environment - even for lively young children! And the air conditioning in every room was a godsend in the summer heat. There is a huge table in the garden which comfortably seats 10+ and we ate all our meals outside in style. We soon got used to the 2 kitchens and used the downstairs one for breakfast/ lunch/ drinks and the even better equipped upstairs one for cooking dinner - that is when we didn't barbecue or go out to eat in the many nearby and very reasonable restaurants. We also enjoyed a delicious take away seafood paella from a local restaurant. We were thoroughly spoiled by the delightful Mari Carmen and Marival who came in every morning to clean the pool, house and garden, make our beds and change bed linen and towels as neededthis is truly the best of both worlds - you have the freedom of self catering but with hotel type servicing. Fabulous! The village has everything you need all within a few minutes walk and you certainly don't need a car here. There is a regular bus service into Madrid and other local towns for sightseeing and a pleasant walk to Chinchon. There is an excellent municipal swimming pool and a market every Thursday. Colmenar is not a touristy place ( and no touristy prices !) and you ideally need to be able to speak or attempt to speak some Spanish to get the most out of it but it offers an insight into real Spanish village life and a very warm welcome. We all had a fabulous and memorable holiday.
