Sinopsis

We had a lovely time in this magical place! Rustical Travels looked after us again so well ! Carlos, Gloria and all the team arranged everything so well, including a grocery shop for our late Sunday evening arrival in the dark! The particulars and directions to the place were very comprehensive. The property met so well with our expectations; situated on the edge of some beautiful woodland with our own private gardens and stream, which we loved. Blanca the property manager, had made the place so comfortable and we had everything we needed. It was traditional yet modern. The shower was really excellent. Her work in the garden and orchard is commendable and she had even written a book in English for guests with local walks, beaches and excursions. We used this each day to get the most from our stay. We really enjoyed walking along the River Mera. Also coastal walking is stunning. We loved Cariño, Espasante (fish restaurant wonderful), O Barqueiro and all the beaches, especially Picon and Esteira."

We loved our time away in this remote part of Galicia. The cottage itself was totally delightful with everything we needed. The best part of our stay was waking up to the wonderful sounds of the babbling brook thru the bathroom window. We will be back."

Hi Carlos We had a wonderful time in Galicia and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Rustica Travel. The property was delightful and we felt at home from the minute we arrived. Your communication and assistance throughout the booking process was outstanding - clear, friendly and prompt. The supporting information, including the travel directions and local information, along with the arrival arrangements, were all fantastic as well and made us feel that you really had covered everything. I have worked in the travel industry myself for 15 years and have had few better experinces in that time. You are a fine example to us all. Our thanks again for a wonderful trip."

Lovely location, beautiful gardens. The woman who showed us around was very helpful despite the language differences. Lovely beaches nearby. Please make the signpost/ directions in the village near the property clearer. Thank you, we had a lovely time."

We will add more photos to our directions to try and make them more clear.

Last two weeks in April. Pleasantly warm mostly for us. The log fire and the electric heater kept us warm at night. Bit of a shock no oven, but there were 3 frying pans supplied which did us. The old village has noticeably seen better days, lots of abandoned houses everywhere, Smaller motor cars are better on those roads, they were originally for a horse and cart! The same all around the area, even the railway was somewhat run down, albeit safe and reliable. We took the dog on a trip on the railway with no problems, but he did have to be muzzled. Which all meant we had a very pleasantly quiet and peaceful stay. (apart from that bloke with the strimmer) The mill stream is an idylic location. The dog loved lounging outside or walking along the stream. We visited many places around and at that time of the year it was obvious there would be a lot more food and shopping when the high season got started. We used the Gadis supermarket in Ortiguera quite a lot, and was glad to see it was open all day, seven days a week. The supplied booklet detailing local walks and places to visit was very useful. BTW Many thanks to Carlos for his emails about where to eat and shop etc. Overall a very wonderful holiday, highly recommended."

A very quiet location in a peaceful Galician village. Lots of walking from the casita. very good access to local towns. I think it is fair to say that in the autumn (we stayed late October) the mill cottage can feel quite cool and damp, an inevitable consequence of it's location in a ravine and on the water. However there is an excellent wood burning stove and a plentiful supply if wood to burn. The cottage has all the facilities you need (although cooking a bit limited) and a very comfy bed. A much enjoyed visit."

Me and my partner booked this cottage for a week away in Galicia in the first week of June, The cottage and the surrounding areas were very beautiful. The cottage itself came equipped with everything we needed for a week exploring Galicia. We were met by a Spanish lady on arrival who showed us round the cottage and was very helpful and friendly. The nearby beaches are extremely beautiful and we found dozens of secluded beaches within a 30 minute drive from the cottage, most of, which were empty or very sparsely populated The guide books of the local area in the cottage were very useful and easy to follow, we had a nice walk in the surrounding woods and hills on our first day and took the suggested cliff drive nearby for some amazing views of the coast and visited the local monestry, which had a few fantastic restaurants and small shops. The area itself is fairly remote with a few small towns within a 30 minute drive away but a great place to relax and enjoy some of the local seafood and beautiful countryside. Would definitely use rustical travel again, their service was first class and the cottage was stunning. Thanks for a lovely week Peter"

An enchanting converted watermill set in a magical fairy dell. We ( including Sam the dog) loved it. It even had reasonable speed, reliable broadband Not really suitable for four, even kids, as the mezzanine has a very low ceiling and the ladder is vertical Great walks from the cottage through woods and alongside streams. Lovely, virtually deserted beaches nearby. Very Galician, no concessions made to tourism."

Lovely little cottage in the woods. Cosy, inviting and room enough for 2. The garden was lovely, although I would be nervous of having young children there as there were some deep areas in the stream. We loved the area, Gob smackingly beautiful beaches, genuinely surprised at how pretty, quiet and clean they were! Tried to do the local walk from the cottage as described in the book, but it was impassable, so wouldn't advise that. All in all, a relaxing holiday."

Colin | September | 2015

The cottage was beautiful, clean and well furnished. The lady who met us at the cottage was friendly, she had purchased the shopping we requested. We both appreciated the book of local activities that the owner had produced, it gave us lots of options in terms of walks and where to eat. One downside was the initial instructions on how to locate the cottage from the airport. We felt they did not give enough detail of how to leave A Coruna airport. Perhaps including some pictures of which direction to take from the airport and more detailed step by step instructions on which way to leave."

Rustical Update

Directions to this property from Coruna airport have been improved and now include photographs and clearer instructions.

The cottage was a beautiful place to get the break we needed. Tucked away in the forest just far enough away from civilisation but with easy access to the local beaches and towns. The local walks are beautiful and the woodburner is the perfect way to warm up after all the walking, swimming and fishing. We didn't miss the Internet once, which is saying something for a couple so attached to our technology. Our thanks to you for making it such a lovely and simple stay. We'll be back with the whole family next time. Hanna and Chad"

Many Thanks, Rustical Travel, for your great service and a fantastic holiday at the Mill Cottage in Galicia. The cottage itself was clean, spacious and furnished to a very good standard. With a stream running by outside, a large area of land and it's peaceful location in a wooded area, it really was the perfect romantic getaway. We would recommend this cottage to any couple or small family looking for a quiet break away from it all. We will be using your service again in the future. Thanks Again, Matthew and Gabriella."

We spent the first week of our summer holiday in Spain at this property in Galicia. The cottage is located well off the beaten track and is set in beautiful wild gardens by a stream. You can hear the water babbling through the open windows and it is difficult to imagine a more beautiful, tranquil setting. The cottage itself is very small, but perfect for two people; it is very well-equipped and has everything you would need for a great, peaceful holiday. The remote location may be a problem for some people. There are literally no amenities within walking distance (5km), which means that you do need to drive if you want to eat out, shop or find internet access. The surrounding area is breathtakingly beautiful. There are a lot of information leaflets about local drives, walks etc in the cottage. We would recommend a visit to Cedeira - a really pretty coastal town, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Overall I would recommend this cottage to a couple looking to enjoy a peaceful, quiet holiday in the countryside, but not to people who want civilisation, nightlife or entertainment!"

We were absolutely delighted with the cottage in Galicia. The surrounding countryside together with our own woods and river were all that anyone could wish for. I must give.a special mention of our quite amazing housekeeper Marisol who even brought us produce from her own garden and nothing was too much trouble'. She had to come on our 3rd day because our alarm became faulty and sounded from 1a m until I was able to contact the owner at 10 in the early morning. Marisol was there within 15 minutes and replaced it for us. I would recommend the property with just 1 slight inconvenience that being that our particular cottage had no immediate internet or telephone nearby so taking our iPads was a bit of a problem to get in contact with family etc.perhaps it should be mentioned in your literature that AG 10(1) has no facility. Apart from that it was a lovely holiday."
