Overview

We are delighted to offer this chic holiday property in one of the areas we are most passionate about: Asturias.

It is certainly unusual to find such a distinctive property in off-the-beaten-track Spain.

There are a few main reasons to choose this as your holiday villa: its boutique-style design, the extraordinary views, its proximity to lovely beaches and the Master bedroom - one of the most exceptional suites we have seen in a holiday home.

But there are other elements that ticked the boxes for us when deciding whether it deserved a spot on our portfolio; particularly the lovely terraced garden and the actual location where the property sits.

Being on a hill means you benefit from dominating views over the surrounding green countryside; you simply will not get enough of the rolling slopes around you. And the mature gardens are purposefully-sloppy but terraced and private. We visited in late autumn 2019 when unfortunately there were fewer flowers than in spring or summer, but even so, there was a special feel to it.

The barbecue area is a great addition for outdoor living as well. Perhaps somewhat unpractical as it is not right next to the kitchen, but perfectly manageable if you prepare it all beforehand. The spot, with its wooden picnic table is such a wonderful place to enjoy a meal or a tapa with a glass of locally pressed cider.

Originally built in 1900 and fully renovated a whopping 100 years later, in 2009, it still maintains all the character from the past century but with smart, contemporary interiors proper of a boutique-style country home.

Eventually, it was purchased by a UK-based family who felt in love with the location and we can totally understand why!

In regards to amenities, during our visit we found that a few elements were missing for the house to be totally suitable for more than 6 guests. Specifically, the indoor dining space isn´t very ample, the outdoor furniture is somewhat lacking and there is no oven in the kitchen. But it does sleep 10 people, and some groups may be happy to adjust. Smaller families will benefit from having excellent sleeping arrangements thanks to its ample 5 bedrooms with either twins or double beds to choose from.

Either way, one bedroom stands out from the rest and that is the Master bedroom on the first floor. Incredibly spacious, you´ll get a sense of being in your own, private suite in a trendy 5-star hotel; the windows running across the 40m2 bedroom looking into the green valley... just superb.

The living room is another fabulous space with tons of light and simple, yet smart interior design. Glass-panelled sliding doors open up from here, and lead directly to a closed balcony corridor where you are met with the beautiful views that make this location so exceptional.

The house does however have its weak point in the kitchen and the dining area, as mentioned. The kitchen is fairly basic and the dining table suits 6 or perhaps 7 people, so larger families with children may be fine feeding children first. But do note that the area offers amazing local food so many of you may be tempted to have meals in one of these off-the-beaten-track restaurants where good food is served at fair prices.

Although technically a village house, this property feels more like a country villa with its intimate gardens and grounds. It is located on the outskirts of a tiny, typical Asturian hamlet, occupying a privileged position in terms of privacy and views.

But what’s also essential when booking a holiday villa in Northern Spain? Location.

If you arrive by plane to Asturias, it´ll only take you about 20 minutes to get from the airport to the property and this can be rather convenient.

From this base you can choose to go for nice coastal walks or spend the day in lovely beaches regularly throughout your stay as it will only take you 20 minutes by car!

Yet one of the highlights of your local visits will be Cudillero, a little fishing village you are guaranteed to want to come back home with some photos of. This lovely spot is about 25 minutes away.

The narrow railway which crosses Northern Spain is charismatic and you can catch it in Pravia, a town less than 10 minutes away. Catch the train and go to the seaside in less than 15 minutes or to the historical Oviedo town in just one hour, all while you enjoy the scenery and feel like a local travelling on this charming train.

We invite you to have a feel of real Spain, a feel of Asturias.
