Overview

If you fancy an authentic Spanish holiday, off the beaten track, then we think you should consider this Hamlet house and finca in the province of Granada.

To reach the house you pass though a sea of green houses. Did you ever wonder where those winter avocados and mangos originated from? Yes, many here, in the perennial sunshine of the Tropical Coast.

This is definately a foreign experience and almost feels like Northern Africa with the (relatively) arid countryside and the sub-Saharan wholesalers.

Situated in a historical hamlet, your delightful finca provides an interesting contrast with its large private gardens, a gorgeous pool and excellent accomodation. Although you are in a hamlet, once in the enclosed large gardens and pool area you are very much on your own.

The 18th century house has character and still retains some of the old features such as beams, tiled floors and wooden doors. It is a very pleasant living space although larger groups may have to spread out between the two living rooms to be comfortable.

The upstairs living room is more spacious with a great projector screen and it has nice views.

We liked the attic room with its cosiness and with its many wooden beams, evoking a sense of history. This would be perfect for children as the ceiling slants down quite low at some points.

It really is an interesting holiday house and the outside space is full of surprises! On varying levels you can find an al fresco dining space, a super pool area, two terraced barbeque spots, sunbathing patios, tree lined paths, lovely lawns, a lily pond and even a cave with a small reservoir! At night the cave is illumnated which makes it very magical. Importantly, for small children, this intruiging landscape can be securely gated from the top of the house.

We would like to point out that there is a road in the distance, below the finca and it is possible that you could hear the noise of cars from the garden.

You can easily reach the sea and enjoy the local beach bars and restaurants, and maybe order a local vino; you are, after all, amongst great traditional and good quality vinyards.

If you have time, a visit to the high Alpujarras is a must, with its pituresque white villages where you can, maybe, "drive over lemons", instead of over greenhouses!

This villa is not in the prettiest of locations but we feel it offers enough appealing and interesting elements, with a good level of comfort and the guarantee of the rejuvenating summer sun, to enjoy a great holiday!
