The air conditioning runs on a generator and its use is limited. Although its use has to be moderate, it is an excellent help in hot conditions.

Overview

The impressive designer villa enjoys a totally private Alpujarra location.

The panorama is remarkable: views go up the Guadalfeo Valley, across to the southern sierras, and down to the sparkling blue water of the reservoir at Rules.

In the old, traditional world of Las Alpujarras, this modern architectural creation stands out as an exception.

It is equipped for those who expect facilities to be more complete than at a regular rural villa.

Décor, spaces and lines of this designer villa are striking. Classic Mediterranean white reflects light from the tall windows to create a luminosity filling the main room up to its high ceiling. It's a vast open space through which guests may flow from quality sofas to dining table to kitchen: and from all of these through french windows to the outdoor areas.

The accommodation is smartly designed for easy living. Furnishings, fittings, beds, linen, kitchen equipment and dining service are of a high quality.

There's also a small office space in each of the two main bedrooms on the upper level for anyone who needs to keep the business going while being well away from it all.

There are four bedrooms, split between higher and lower levels. They are fresh, spacious and luminous.

Below is a magnificent swimming pool, 12 metres long. A round splash pool for children adjoins it. The pools aren't gated and there are one or two drops around the border of the property, so children would need to be kept an eye on. There's a pool shower and recliners for soaking up the Andalucia sun, taking all due care.

You reach it through gardens that go with the sun-baked setting: of lavender and cacti, not the grassy lawns of wetter climes.

The undisturbed location is ideal for people who want a complete privacy combined with the opportunity for day trips exploring the High Alpujarra villages and going on hikes, visiting Granada and the Alhambra, and nipping down the coast for barbecued fish on the beach.

The villa is accessed down a track from the high valley road midway between the main population centres of Orgiva and Lanjaron.

All shopping facilities, plus cafés, bars and restaurants, are a 15-minute drive in either direction.

Location

Completely private, overlooking the wide valley and the Rules reservoir. The track down to the villa is 2.6 km and paved except for the last 700 metres. It is manageable in a normal car but some care should be taken.

This was our second visit to this Villa. It has a fantastic pool with regular maintenance provided by Andrew who also provides good local information and help during the stay. The house was immaculately clean and there is a fabulous selection of kitchen & utility equipment. There is also good back-up when help is needed. We were delighted to be able to receive British TV- I didn't miss the final of Master Chef or the highlights of the Commonwealth Games!! The villa is of a high standard and the bathrooms have great showers. The Villa is well placed for exploring along the coast or inland. I would recommend hiring a car that has good ground clearance as the lane to the villa is a dirt track in places. Avis were brilliant at the airport. It is rural but easy to go into the local towns for the daily bread etc. Food is cheap locally and there are excellent supermarkets a short drive to Motril. There is also a goat farm below the villa which is lovely to see the animals being taken out to graze in the valleys and then being brought home late in the evening with their shepherd. It is very peaceful and relaxing- a definite Chill Zone. Now planning our third visit for 2015!"

A brief note to thank you for the efficient and wonderful service you have provided for our recent vacation to Lanjaron. The villa was excellent, and Maggie & Andrew very helpful and kind. We were very impressed by the information you sent us and the standard of the villa. We would like to tell you of a small niggle about the property which was the barking of local farm dogs. Eventually we got used to it but it wasn't pleasant at first. However, we would love to return to this villa again. Again, you have a great company which I will be happy to recommend.
