Overview

The mountainside of the beautiful Taha area of the High Alpujarra is moulded into a high, sunny valley that runs east to west in warm, relatively gentle terrain. It’s just 10 minutes further on from the better known Poqueira Gorge, yet enjoys more direct sunlight hours per day.

Walking distance from country bar-restaurants here, lies a well-kept estate in complete seclusion, shaded by mature trees and tall bamboo.

This apartment is the most private of three independent garden accommodations on the estate, which is a relaxed and very natural location.

It’s a colourful, cheerful, split-level studio. Typical Alpujarra elements of wood beams and rounded walls have gone into a snug little holiday home.

It’s open-plan, with a cozy sitting corner and a large and gorgeously tiled shower. There’s a double bed and another sleeping area with a comfortable bunk bed for a child. The apartment is smallish, but well-arranged.

Outside, by some fruit trees, there’s a nice porch where you can dine out by looking out onto the lawned gardens.

The gardens are well-kept and fed by freshwater springs. A natural waterfall trickles into a large swimming pool. Both pool and gardens are shared with the other two one-bedroom apartments, and WiFi is available in these common areas. There are also barbecues and sunloungers for your holiday enjoyment.

The Spanish owners, who live on site, are unintrusive and likely only to appear to offer fresh fruit juice on the house. They speak a little English if you have no Spanish and are pleased to help out with local information.

There are two small villages within easy walking distance of the country estate. Each has a café-bar/restaurant with outdoor terraces where good, well-priced food is to be had.

Walking is wonderful here, with paths linking up to other villages in the Taha. It’s all very tranquil, and the climate is milder than the nearby Poqueira Gorge, where the villages of Pampaneira, Bubion and Capileira make for interesting visits.

Pitres, the capital of the Taha area, although it musters only 600 inhabitants, has a supermarket, bakery, bank, arts centre, health clinic and simple bar-restaurants. It’s just 3 km from your accommodation.

The Alpujarra location is ideal for getting away from it all in the mountains, but day trips to Granada for the Alhambra, and the Costa Tropical, are also very possible.

YOUR REVIEWS

Patricia | September | 2014

We had a lovely holiday at this intimate holiday property. The owners greeted us like long lost family and presented us with home made raspberry ice-cream. in the fridge was a small bottle of bubbles and we were invited to help ourselves with fruit from the trees and veges from the gardens. the tomatoes I might add were the best I have ever tasted and the raspberries a very welcome treat. We felt very welcomed. The apartment was quaint and accurately described. The area is a lovely quiet relaxed village. We felt entirely safe at all times despite the relative isolation of this small village. The choice of either cooking for ourselves or eating at the local village from a choice of 5 venues was also a real treat. Only 5 minutes stroll from the apartment. Several other villages were very accessable with short drives. helped us have a good insight into life in the mountain area. Very intact communities was lovely to observe and feel part of. For us the pool was an added bonus, cool and relaxing. we had a perfectly private and comfortable stay and were sad to leave after our 4 days. the only thing that could assist further is the gps co ordinates in the printouts with directions to get there, though these are very easy to follow. Overall a delightful property and a lovely place to have a quiet break. Thanks for a wonderful stay."
