A track in good condition leads to the property from the estate entrance. This whitewashed house has a very private setting, reached from parking by a walkway over a rush-filled, shallow stream (a source of fascination for children, who may chance upon frogs and the like). It's an independent cottage in a very large manor house estate.

There is a furnished, vine-covered terrace at the front , while to the rear the garden and lawned pool area are especially intimate and attractive. They back onto protective woodland, an apple orchard and a meadow.

The interior has solid wooden ceilings and tiled floors and is simply yet attractively decorated and comfortably furnished. There’s a CD/radio and, if you bring a laptop and the appropriate card, you can connect to Internet.

The kitchen / dining room comes equipped with dishwasher, fan oven, fridge freezer and washing machine.

There are three bedrooms, each with its own en suite bathroom. The double and twin upstairs have a bathtub and the bunk beds in the downstairs bedroom have a shower room. The bunk beds are solid and comfortable IKEA ones.

A glass-fronted woodburner provides heat in winter months (firewood is included in the rental price) and there are radiators, too, but mild winters and long summers in this part of Andalucia will mean you will spend a lot of time in light clothes and out of doors.

The garden is an idyllic spot to rest and relax. From mid-April to May nightingales nest and sing in the poplars, while in May and June wildflowers spread a blanket of colour. Summer starts early and the pool (at 5 m x 3 m it’s good for dips and playing rather than laps) is much in demand. In July and August is the cork oak harvest, an interesting event you can watch either here or at a neighbouring farm.

There are extensive grounds which you are free to wander, two pretty villages within walking distance, wildlife and trekking in Aracena Natural Park, picnic possibilities at Aracena reservoir, plus day trips to Seville, the Rio Tinto mines, Portugal, even the Atlantic coast. In this gorgeously secluded area of Andalucia, the vegetation is rich and exuberant. A path from the estate meanders through trees to the hamlet of Los Marines (with one bar, at least, to slake thirsts after that valiant 20-minute stroll) and Fuenteheridos, a fine village with restaurants and a famous fountain.

The manor house has operated as a country hotel in the past and it is still sometimes possible to order dinners there, both manor and kitchen now in the capable hands of an English cookery expert.
