This country location is a beautifully tranquil place to spend an eco-friendly week in the mountains of the high Alpujarras. The accommodation is attractively furnished and prepared by the owner and features items brought back from her extensive travels. She is on hand should you need anything, but otherwise lives unobtrusively in one of the three discrete units of the house, maintaining the colourful gardens with great views across the mountain countryside. Special attention has been paid to qualities of restfulness whether in the anatomic beds and soft ironed bed linen, or the hammocks and seating outdoors. 

Unlike the Poqueira Gorge (Capileira, Bubion, Pampaneira), the east-west valley of La Taha receives long hours of sunlight and is a gentler, less abrupt terrain.

Both self-catering accommodation units have wifi, woodburning stoves and private gardens. They share 5,000 square metres of mature gardens planted with fruit trees, shrubs and cooking herbs and an organic market garden. There’s a spring-filled splash pool (2.5 m x 2.5 m) for cooling off in hotter months.

Estrella (sleeps 2 or 3)
A sunny, south-facing apartment on the first floor with a very inviting, very natural atmosphere. Large windows look out to the mountains and furnishings include well-chosen, tasteful items. A single bedroom with garden view is curtained off from the hallway, while a double-bedded room shares the same delightful views of the southern mountain range as the apartment’s private terrace. The living room is separated by an archway from a luminous, fully equipped kitchen, whose windows look out over the local valley.
Outside, Estrella guests have use of a large private garden with sunloungers and hammock.

Luna (sleeps 2)
This compact, open-plan garden flat is nicely decorated and fitted out. The shower room is tiled in mosaic. Outdoor living is extremely inviting here. In a large and very private garden that overlooks the village of Ferreirola. Sunny and shady areas alternate and there are reclinable armchairs, sunloungers and a hammock.

The garden estate in which the accommodation is set lies between the three quaint and ancient villages of Ferreirola, Mecina and Atalbeitar, all of which are within walking distance. Mecina has two bar/restaurants with outdoor terraces, one of them serving exclusively vegetarian and vegan meals, the other home-cooked meats and fish. Organic produce from the gardens (with eggs, maybe, from the chicken coop!) is included in your welcome pack.

Rambling the footpaths and watercourses of the area is simply wonderful. Climb up to the ruined mosque or the old mines! Other attractions for which you would need transport are the three villages of the Poqueira Gorge (10 mins by car), O Sel Lin Buddhist centre (20 mins) and Trevélez (the highest village in Spain, 35 mins).
