The beautiful Taha area of the high Alpujarra is formed by a high, sunny valley that runs east to west in gentle terrain.

In this rustic mountain world, and in an utterly peaceful seclusion set back from the quiet village lane, are three, separate, quality garden apartments.

This double-bedded apartment has a private garden and a porch terrace with a lovely view.

The style is modern rustic, made with rounded walls, chestnut and stone, suiting the local environment perfectly.

Decoration is cheerful, colourful and imaginative.

Its 50 m² include a sitting area, small dining area with a glass-fronted fireplace and a kitchen area that is illuminated by skylights.

The outstanding feature is undoubtedly the extravagant Gaudí-inspired whirlpool and spa bath, which also has natural light filtering through skylights in a half-domed ceiling.

Outside, sunloungers are screened by bamboo for privacy.

Beyond here, the extensive gardens are shared with up to two other couples, as is the huge swimming pool,  fed by a trickling mountain spring.

It’s a pretty place to sit back and soak up the mountain energy, when you’re not out walking the paths and byways that link La Taha’s seven little white villages. Walking is wonderful here. It’s all very tranquil, and the climate is milder than the nearby Poqueira Gorge, where the villages of Pampaneira, Bubion and Capileira make for interesting visits.

The Spanish family owners, who live unobtrusively on site, offer a complementary welcome pack to all guests. It typically includes fruit from the local trees, vegetables from the estate’s own plot, wine, canapés, cheese and olive oil.

The two small villages of Mecina and Mecinilla are walking distance from the country estate. Each has a café-bar/restaurant with outdoor terraces where good, well-priced food is to be had.

Pitres, the capital of the Taha area, although it musters only 600 inhabitants, has a supermarket, bakery, bank, arts centre, health clinic and simple bar-restaurants, some with WiFi. It’s just 3 km from your accommodation.

The location is ideal for getting away from it all in the mountains, but day trips to Granada for the Alhambra, and the Costa Tropical, are also possible.

A great choice for a very relaxing Alpujarras holiday.
