The farmhouse property is situated just above Capileira village and halfway up Mulhacén, Spain’s highest mountain, within sight of the Mediterranean Sea and even, on occasion, of the mountains of Morocco beyond (see Alpujarras map). There is stunning scenery 24 hours a day if you count the star-lit night..

The property can be rented as a whole for up to eight people (see AP31). Here the self-contained apartment is offered for four people or less, but with full private use of the grounds, gardens and pool. The main part of the farmhouse is not rented separately when the apartment is occupied, so that your privacy is guaranteed.

The apartment has a pleasantly rustic Alpujarras feel and it has been finished with some nice touches. Beamed ceilings and tiled floors together with some local handcrafts as decoration make it homely, and it is equipped with central heating and a wood burning stove to assure warmth and comfort in the colder months.
 
There are two bedrooms, a double and a twin and there’s a sofa bed in the lounge, which opens onto the private, south-facing terrace; a real treat for outdoor living. There is a large bathroom, a well-equipped kitchen and a spacious dining area.

Each season nature has something really special to offer up here, whether in character or the fruits of the land. You are welcome to explore the farmhouse gardens and grounds and pick fruit from the trees or herbs to accompany meals.
 
The pool is big and solar-heated. It has a wide terracotta tiled sun terrace, embellished by flower beds, lavender, rosemary and a general ambience that makes the spot a great place to while away the hours. Whether it’s mountain activity or total relaxation you are after, this place is a good choice.
 
The cortijo is reached along a 1 km track in good condition. A twenty-minute walk or just over five minutes’ drive will take you down to village life in Capileira, featured in the book “The Most Beautiful Villages of Spain” by Hugh Palmer. Directly above you is another treat: nothing less than the National Park of Sierra Nevada with fantastic high altitude walking and wildlife.
