Gaucin’s popularity with visitors is not always matched by a corresponding supply of satisfactory accommodation. Into the breach steps this bright, nicely decorated use with a triple measure of outdoor space.

Based on a cheerful colour scheme of sky blue and white, its furnishing ingredients include well chosen items – dressers, seating, beds and rugs – to make it into a delicious home with a plant-filled patio. It is located in a lovely, very quiet street.

The first thing that strikes you on entering the house is the country-style kitchen, just right for cooking meals for four. You may want to enjoy them at the dining table in the pleasantly illuminated open plan living/dining room or to carry them out to the gorgeous internal patio, furnished for the occasion. It’s perfectly cool even during the hottest months, filled with exuberant plants that create an intimate atmosphere.

The living area is bright and cheerful. It comes with entertainment hardware if you fancy putting on a CD, DVD, video or watching satellite TV. If you need internet, there's at least one place in Gaucin where you can connect.

There are two upper floors, each semi-independent with its own bedroom, bathroom and terrace, ensuring a significant measure of privacy from each other.

On the first floor, the twin-bedded room has a terrace with seating for two and views over the rear garden patio and village. It is a lovely spot for reading and relaxing. It has a spectacularly tiled blue bathroom.

On the second floor is a sun-filled room with double-bed and en-suite shower room. It has a small balcony and sun terrace with sunloungers and a parasol. There are superb views of the village and castle and Gaucin’s valley.

There are plenty of reasons for choosing Gaucin as a holiday base (see location on Ronda map). Rambling in the local environs is popular (there are books on the trails), and there are good places to have tapas and enjoy Mediterranean cuisine (we'll send you our personal recommendations with your holiday documents). For day trips, you are spoilt for choice. The historic town of Ronda is just 40 minutes away, the Costa beaches even less. Gibraltar is only one hour away.

And nearer at hand are traditional villages such as Genalguacil (we'll send you our suggested itinerary for a great day out here) and charming Jimena de la Frontera: well worth a visit.
