Village houses don’t come much better than this. It’s stylish, exquisitely decorated and smartly furnished, a very congenial place to stay with family or friends in the beautiful village of Gaucin.

When you are not out getting to know the interesting streets and views of this welcoming village, you have a desirable house to enjoy with superb outdoor areas. The roof terrace is large enough to have been partly made into a garden. You can sit out there and sunbathe with exceptional views down the valley in a gorgeous mountain setting. There are sunloungers and a plunge pool. Gibraltar and – on occasions − Morocco can be made out in the distance. (See Gaucin location on Ronda map).

A colourful, well-lit reception hall makes coming into the house inviting. There’s a well-equipped kitchen next to a dining room, and a small sitting area onto an interior patio with plants, equipped with chairs and a table for outdoor meals in the hotter months. The dining room is a cozy, elegant corner to enjoy meals indoors.

Upstairs, the living area is rich with natural light from the interior patio. Good fabrics, antiques and gentle lighting display the owners’ tasteful attention to detail. The two bedrooms (one double, one twin) have good-size mattresses, and the double-glazed French windows in each bedroom open onto a balcony. The whole house is well-arranged, attractive and intimate, with the original features preserved in all the key points.

From the upstairs living room, some steps (no banister) take you up to the roof terrace-cum-garden mentioned earlier. It really is a fantastic spot, with possibly the best views we have seen from a village terrace.

Just a few metres up the street are excellent restaurants and tapas bars. Gaucin isa big village, not a town, and you will soon find your way around. Rambling or trekking around Gaucin is popular (you can get books on the routes and we will send you a sample walk together with our  tips on restaurants and activities), as are trips to the other villages in the area, with Genalguacil or Jimena del Frontera deserving special consideration. For day trips, the beaches of the Costa del Sol are an obvious draw and historic Ronda is just 40 minutes away. Gibraltar is an hour.

There is a non-private parking space next to the property; otherwise the free municipal car park is 2 minutes away.
