Now that’s a view.

During ten years of working in rural tourism all over Spain, we’ve seen a lot of views, but this house has just about the best. On top of that, it’s walking distance from one of the nicest villages in the Ronda area and it has a pool: not a big one, but quite nice.

The décor and furnishings may be somewhat uninspiring and the house, while being properly equipped, neat, clean and practical, may not have the rustical charm we generally insist on, but the breathtaking vistas of sierras, the broad Genal valley and Genalguacil village below more than make for it. They are extraordinary, breathtaking, huge. Bear in mind that small children might feel overwhelmed.

These views quite simply transform a modest rural holiday home into a very desirable one. It acquires another dimension thanks to its dominating position on the abrupt hillside. One of the bedrooms has a balcony from which the views are awe-inspiring.

The swimming pool is positioned beneath the house, where it benefits from the same viewpoint. There’s no room to be sunbathe alongside the pool, but there’s a sunny terrace by the house.

The house has four bedrooms, but we offer it for two to six people only, as we don’t consider the living spaces and seating as adequate for eight. We also advise against bringing very young children who might find the views so impressive as to be unsettling. Car parking by the house is limited but manegable.

But wait for your first swim at sunset here. It’s quite unbelievable.

The pool area is just a few steps below the property. It doesn´t have much space around it for sunbathing but the terraces around the house make up for this lack of space.

Genalguacil (10 minutes walk downhill, rather more coming back…) is one of our favourite villages in Andalucia. It’s a real village, unspoilt, untouristy, attractive, with enough services to cover all your normal needs, a small supermarket, bars & restaurants, a pub. Genalguacil (population 526) has earned itself a reputation as a cultural mini-destination, chiefly on account of the annual invitation to artists to make and place paintings and especially sculptures around the village.

The surrounding area is very rural and unusually rich in rare Spanish firs. You drive through these on a scenic route to the coast: in 45 minutes you can be in Estepona. You can spend a day at the beach in Estepona’s international and somewhat busy atmosphere and then trundle back to your quiet, private place in the country.

Gaucin is nearby for an easy day trip and Ronda just 45 minutes.

All in all, a very interesting Ronda holiday rental and a rewarding experience.
