Those who want the feel of a genuine Andalusian farmhouse but with country comforts will find this a natural choice. The house is inviting and well presented, with facilities that complement its natural rusticality.
The views from the house, terraces and pool are spectacular.
There are two entrances to the house, one direct to the living room from the terrace that runs along the front of the house, and another to the kitchen/dining room, which comes fully equipped with dishwasher and the farmhouse’s original bread oven.
And there are two separate sets of stairs (a little low for some: mind your head!), which lead up to a twin-bedded room and a double bedroom with an en-suite shower room. The rooms are unpretentious and yet intimate.
Downstairs is another twin bedroom with en-suite shower and a third shower room.
Indoors facilities such as satellite TV, DVD and CD player are provided, but it is the outdoor life that both climate and surroundings invite you to make the most of.
At this totally private location, the swimming pool is a special delight. Not only does it present uninterrupted views down through the mountains, but it is also naturally integrated in the dramatic landscape. It's infinity-style: the water doesn't overflow the edge, but the impression you have in the water is much the same.
Room fans are provided for freshness during the summer heat.
The village of Colmenar (10 minutes’ drive) provides facilities to meet all common requirements, including restaurants to enjoy very reasonably priced meals. We will send you our recommendations, as well as ideas for activities and daytrips. If you need internet during your stay, there are bars and a hotel in Colmenar that offer free WiFi and there's a cybercentre with its own computers. The villa has good mobile cover.
The villa is reached down a 2 km track in good condition. Locations like this offer the advantages of the Axarquia – the tranquillity of country life, proximity to Malaga and the coast – without the traffic and concentration of people that have grown up around other more popular inland destinations.
The Axarquia region, which reaches inland from the Mediterranean coast at Malaga, is a magnet for sun seekers. It has drawn a community of Europeans to live the quiet life alongside local Spanish people, whose sweet wine and dried raisins have benefitted from the same sun that warms and tans the visitor.
Sandy beaches are an obvious attraction but don’t miss out on La Axarquia’s inland points of interest: historical Antequera, for example, or walking round the striking rock formations in Torcal Natural Park.
